dragon wench wrote:You know, it's an awfully long time since anyone around here has addressed me as "Mistress." Besides, unless CE and Silur are planning to have their small progeny tapping away at the keyboard from the first moment of hatching, I doubt there'll be any confusion :D

How about... "Mistress of the Velvet Fang?"
That has a certain ring to it as well :p
True, unless she acquires the nickname, "Fang." Then people might think she was a dog. Of course, knowing Silur, he'd probably train her to roll over on command, so it would all work out, in the end.

lol!

OK then, in order to avoid being blessed with the likely unfortunate nickname of "Fang," how about "Mistress of the Velvet Talon?" :p
After all, some of the men around here have been known to fantasize about the child's mother in a black catsuit, so it all has a certain aptness to it :D

Or another possibility, "Mistress of the bejeweled lash"..

Sounds like the name you'd give a groupie that belonged to a mediocre rock band from the 80's :D

Thanks all for you wonderful and less wonderful suggestions! Our daughter was born on the 4th of July (sigh) and we have thus far named her Alexandra Diana. It's common in Sweden to have 3 first names though, so there is still room for one more!

Right now she is sleeping on her father's chest - her favorite place. :)

I am extremly happy that she is finally outside of my body instead of on the inside! :)

Congratulations CE and Silur! :)

I can certainly relate to the relief of your daughter being on the outside :D

And I have to admit... I giggled a bit at the birth date. Our son is born two days before Valentine's Day and four days before my SO's birthday. No doubt you can imagine my horror at the thought of either of those dates especially VDay....
But July 4 th... *grins* :D

Congrats, CE! Give my regards as well to the proud father, who was such a layabout while you put up with carrying your bairne the whole time.

Alexandra Diana: very nice. How about Alexandra Diana BuckGB--I think it has a magical ring, don't you?

Congratulations you two! :) Alexandra Diana sounds like a very nice name to me, definitely not too strange, but still colorful. Maybe for a third name Anna? Perhaps that's too common, or too much a's (Alexandra Diana Anna), but it's the best I can think of right now... Or how about Beatrice! Or Barcelona! Alexandra Diana Barcelona! :D

I really don't mind the date Fourth of July. I'm not an American and I do not hold any special feelings towards that U.S. national day, and I guess that I just do not really associate that date with flags and stripes and bells and fireworks. I just like the ring to it, 'Fourth of July', and the date by itself. And at least she's born in July, that's a very nice month! :)
By the way, how did the delivery go?

Congrats to you both! :)

If it's any consolation, my best friend has July 4th for his birthday and it doesn't seem to have done him any harm...I'd say as long as you don't make her third name 'Liberty' or 'Freedom' you should be fine.

Congratulations! I hope you're happy, and the following months will be more endearing than exhausting :)

BTW, I seem to have heard that every person born on 4th July may get an instant visa to the U.S? Or am I mistaking something, guys?

I don't think you should add any "Liberty" or "Independence" as the third name: surely you don't want to give your child any wrong ideas...

Both chosen names have a dinstinct classical ring to them, so I suggest Julia as the third one. Or Juliet, if Silur is sentimental.

Alexandra Diana Julia.

Virginia is nice, too. Appropriate, given that Swedes are not noted for socialability, leading to numerous old virgins.

Thank you! That's perfect. Taken! We'll register her name tomorrow.

I attach a horribly low quality but endearing photo of Alexandra in her favorite place. (I can already see she is soooo going to be Daddy's girl!)
