question about craft magic arms and armor

Post by demigame »

well, i realy like this game, it can create some different, special item.
now this time , i try to create some item like:

Bracers of Armor +4: +4 bonus to AC
Requires: Caster level 8, Craft Wondrous Item feat
- 2 iron ingots
- Weak Earth Essence
- Jacinth
Cast mage armor on a magic workbench containing the above

i found a book, and has the craft magic arms/armor feat, and ready the item (as it require) when i cast mage armor (level 1) on magic workbench, and it say "not a valid recipe."

i am a level 5 wizard/10 eldirch knight.

why?

low caster level may be your problem

I don't know the exact requirements for that Recipe, but it seems to me that your caster level is probably too low. Instead of skill level, enchanting items uses caster level. At level five, you are pretty limited in what you can craft/enchant.

No.
requirement for the recipe that i copy from book and paste here.
if my caster level is lower, it will appear " your caster level is not xx00..."
instead of " this is not a valid recipe"...

It will be effective caster level so in this case he is caster level 15 as Eldritch Knights gain caster levels in the same way as wizards.

@demigame, do you have tbe Craft Wondrous Item feat? The recipe needs that not the Craft Magic Arms/Armour feat so if you are using this feat than it is indeed an invalid recipe - the recipe is only valid if you have the Craft Wondrous Item feat.

Ha Ha , you are right Sir !
i blind my eye to see craft this item need craft wondrous item instead of craft magic arms/armor feat.

Thanks you very much!

by the way, i search the equipment database, i found a bracers(AC +10)
but i can't find any book that mention how to craft this item in the game.
what does it mean? there are many good items exist in the game but we can't find/use them or craft them. (except cheat mode).why? (could it be designed for NW3? )

this item bracer of armor+10 is not a "special edition" item.

Well, I'm using the sorcerer Qara (lv 18) with both Craft Wondrous Item and Craft Magic Arms/Armor feats and the results were always the same: "this is not a valid recipe". I'm trying to forge the Boots of Striding +6 (Caster lv. 8, Craft wondrous item feat, leather hide, glowing earth essence, rogue stone, cast cat's grace). The spell was from a scroll...

Try "Bear's Endurance" instead.
At least that is what I've written down in my spreadsheet that I made back when I played.

boots of striding would not be cat's grace. Cat's grace is for dexterity. I think you need Bear's endurance??? I mean the recipe must be wrong...
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

That's make all the sense, and bear's endurance really was the correct spell. But I'm not doing wrong, cat's grace was on the game (ImageShack - Hosting :: blablagg9.jpg).

And thank's a lot for your spreadsheet. It wll be so useful.
