Dungeon Lords Game Editor V1.56
Hex editing
George
Thanks for the advice but I guess I didn't make my location clear. I'm not stuck behind a gate in Fargrove I'm actually in the Vale of Ruins Daedroth Temple between 2 gates.
I've decided to revert to a previous save dropping back to level 12 from 19 but at least this time it shouldn't take as long to get through some of the rooms.
Still can't figure out why I get an error each time I try to edit a save game. Guess I'll have to be more diligent about saving.
Thanks again to all that responded

If you are between 2 gates, there must be a switch or lever to open one of them. There is an area with stairs and 2 gates that is intended for egressing. Both gates are switched controlled (1 is keyed, the other is a lever).
It is not possible to get trapped anywhere in this game. However, it is possible in some places to be unable to continue the storyline. For example, the shadow realm has a nasty bug. If you leave the shadow realm before acquiring the Relic, then you cannot re-enter the shadow realm and you cannot finish the game.
The editor has a bug in the quest display section. Each quest has 1 of 5 possible states, numbered 0 through 4. These numbers are used as an index into a pull-down list. Some of the lists for quests that appear later in the game don't have enough entries. When index 4 is used in the list, an error is thrown because the list doesn't have enough entries.
To get around the problem use the previous editor that doesn't have the quest display section.
There is also a bug in all editors that is truncating experience points to a 3-byte value X'00FFFFFF'. If you edit a game that has more experience/advancement points, the points are reset to maximum value 16777215. You will have to edit manually the savegame (you must know what you're doing or you will damage your game) to repair the points.

I updated my game to 1.4 (I have only been playing this about a week) and changed a few things with the editor. Everything appeared to work fine except:-
1) Skills that were already illuminated as upgradeable prior to the changes remained alight and always do...clicking on them enhances the skill but doesn't cost any points...nice result but strange.
2) As a result of the above glitch, I now have a char.with obscene stats and fighting abilities but although I can stand toe-to-toe with anything I've come across so far in the game, and just slash away only about 1 in 20 strikes actually score, a fight with half a dozen poxy goblins will last for up to 10 minutes, and although my char. doesn't seem to receive any damage, I do! My fingers go numb with the constant clicking!!!
Any idea what I might have cocked up?

keep your DEX down to 30 and your weapon skills at 15. for diabolic only pick 2 or 3, and ones that don't trigger in the same fashion, eg crushing blow and inflict wounds. 15 is plenty for these skills as well. the rest... why not 255?
any char over lvl25 will not save in the editor, not sure why, but there it is.jj22 wrote:i keep hetting the error "The application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000135)" how the hek do i get this to work?!
you will also get this message when you've put in more items than you're inventory will allow. hope that helps.
Editor not working
I have the collector's edition of Dungeon Lords. Just downloaded the editor and tried it out... Everything seemed to work fine with the editor, when I was finished it gave me a message saying that it had saved successfully, but when I get into my game nothing has changed.
Am I doing something wrong? Please help! Thank you!
