Help with legs texturing

Post by Ere »

Hi everyone.

I do a bit of texturing on my characters. These bmp are pretty handy :)

But I got a problem tough.
It seems that legs (aka "pants" files) are always loaded from the PCHF_defaut whatever the female character you have.

I mean my fathien female elf receives only textures from the defaut female for the legs. So the torso is pale skin as intended but the engine do not load the PCEF_fathien_DoubletA_pants I made. It loads the PCHF_DoubletA_pants instead.

How to show a bit of skin from the legs of my fathien elf ? Like this nice black female human from War-Wiz :

Hi Ere and welcome to the forum :)

Changing the appearance of your character is fun and can be a real challenge. There is no manual to tell you how to do it though so coming here to ask questions was a good idea. Kathycf has done a number of her own complete outfits for just about every human or elf character, you should check them out when you have the time. They are good :D

Kathy's Stuff ::

To answer your question, all the female characters, both human and elf, share the same armour where the skin is not visible. The doublet top or the assassin top for example are different for each race and skin tone. The doublet pants are the same for all females. There is no "Fathien_DoubletA_pants" in the texture file to modify. You will have to rename the DoubletA_pants in the PCHF texture file and swap it for your own creation. If you just add a # or a letter to the original doublet pants it will not load into the game but will stay in the texture file and you can use it later for another non-fathien character.

I hope that helps and don't hesitate to post back if you have more questions.

So that's it. Almost everything is derived from PCHF... :(
When you got only one character that's not an issue but when you are playing two with different skin tones, you see the problem...

I guess I'll limit myself to character with the same skin tone.

Thx for your answer.

If I'm using multiple characters from different game saves that have different skin tones I will use the normal armour sets. However, I can still use character specific armour if I divide it up between the races. For example: My human female will get the modified gold plate armour while my Fathien elf gets the modified crimson armour. It can get confusing if you also have asian and black characters to deal with though :D

Hi and welcome Ere. As War-Wiz mentions there is no "Fathien pants" to modify and Dungeon Lords doesn't support modding so it won't recognize any new file names regardless if it is clothing, or any other item. It's a shame, but there you go. I noticed there is a real lack of armor available in this game, they should have made more.... :(

Thanks for the mention, War-Wiz. :)

Hey!.... :)
Thanks for the mention, War-Wiz.
Your most welcome... :D

I had mentioned to Ere that there was no manual for doing "skins", but after another look at your site I'd say I was wrong

Once again, great work Kathy!
