Is it true then if really a Bg3?

This forum is to be used for any discussion pertaining to Black Isle Studios' cancelled Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound project or speculation over the possibility that Atari will eventually have a true sequel developed.

Is it true then if really a Bg3?

Post by Karadim »

Hmm i have'nt played this game for a LONG LONG time but without any doubt Baldur's Gate and it's sequels still remain arguably THE greatest games of all time and i had to post because i have IMMENSELY fond of memories of these terrific games.

Could some1 maybe shed some light if there is truly a BG3 in devolopment or am i getting excited for no reason?

It's highly unlikely there will be a sequel similar in style to the pc games we know and love.

More likely there will be another game for Playstation or Xbox.

Sorry! :(

I'd say yes.

But I know one thing for sure: the graphic engine will be different.
It'll probably look nothing like Baldur's Gate II, and even less like the original.

That's what I'm betting.
"Join the army," they say.
"See the world," they say.

There is a module being developed for NWN2 that is based on the original idea for a BG3 game but as far as I am aware there is no BG3 game in development and it is highly unlikely that there will be in the near future (if at all) since Black Isle is no more and Bioware have moved onto the NWN franchise now and away from the BG franchise. So .... unless another game developer takes it on, I really doubt we will ever see a 3rd BG game.

Well Fallout 2 came in 1998 and now the third is coming ten years later, so I assume BG3 will come too, it's just a matter of time.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

The only problem I see with this idea, assuming it even came to fruition at some point, is that Bethesda is developing Fallout 3...... I suggest you check into the Fallout Community for their views on the way that game is progressing...

While I would dearly love to see a BG3 made, I honestly do not have the confidence that any gaming company presently in existence could pull it off. Or at least, I can't see anyone managing to successfully tap into everything that made BG2 the amazing game that it is.
I'd rather not see a BG3 made at all, then have a company like Bethsoft create it.

Maybe an indie developer, like Planewalker Games could do it. Indeed, I suspect they'd do a great job, but I fear that any of the mainstream band of bandits would make a complete hash of anything they'd title "Baldur's Gate Three."
