Freezing on game exit

Post by George_K »

I've patched to 1.20416 and have no problems during game play. But, once in awhile the menu screen freezes when I try to exit the game. Anyone else experienced this glitch?

No glitches on 360, but on PC it sometimes crashes on exit, particularly if I exit right after saving, which is really annoying because it usually corrupts the save file. I've gotten in the habit of saving the game and then fast-traveling to another location before I exit. I suspect this works because the game has to finish my save completely before it can do the auto-save when I fast travel. Then if it corrupts the auto-save game when I exit, it doesn't matter.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

That fast travel thing seems like a pretty good idea. Anyhow, after saving I always go back to the game in progress and maybe take a few steps or whatever, then Esc and Quit. Haven't had any corrupted saves so far.

I guess, in order to avoid having to hot reboot, just maybe Alt Tab out, then Ctrl-Alt-Delete and choose to end process for the game. I think though, that I'll try the fast travel prior to exiting everytime to see if the freezing once in a great while stops. tnx

I'v had my quick save corrupted before. It removed all armour in the game for some reason. But sadly after continuing later on I auto saved before realising the file was corrupted and had to start the game almost from scratch. :( :o
I think I'm going to stick with Belthan's idea of fast travelling before quiting. :) It might also be a good idea to backup your save game files. ;)
