OK, I am in the relative early stages of the main quest and last time I saw Sheogorath he told me any time I ran into an active Shrine where the Knights and Priests of the Order were to try and "close" the shrine. I finally figured out how to do that by killing the priest and then very quickly inserting three order tokens into the shrine and then rekilling the priest if he had respawned before he reopens the shrine.
Anyway, I have closed three of these shrines down now, and was wondering what the benefits of doing so were (except for the obvious one of no respawning Knights of the Order.) I was hoping for a little chest or something showing up once the shrine was closed but haven't seen anything. Does anyone know what the "prize" is, or is this part of the main quest line and will be revealed later?

Shivering Isles Knights & Priests of the Order *SPOILERS*
Have you ever considered that the sole reason for your existance is to merely serve as a warning to others?
More to Obelisks than meets the eye !
Although, there isn't a whole lot of reward for closing the Obelisks, I recommend activating (use) each of the obelisks one more time after destroying them.
Doing so will provide you with a few nice prizes.
Therefore, you activate 3 times (using the Hearts) to destroy them, and then activate one more time to receive your reward.
It all adds up and amounts to lotsa' great stuff which often includes at least one Soul Gem.
I discovered this by accident while trying to quickly kill an obelisk while being attacked by a bunch of knights ... I was "clicking to beat heck !!".

I disagree to a small extent.Greg. wrote:The obelisks are similar to the random oblivion gates, except you get little reward. It's just something to do...
