I'm surprised to hear Transformers is rubbish... everything I had heard pre-release was pretty positive. It's not out here yet though. Harry Potter is on my list for this week.

Ah well, guess there's plenty of blockbusters left to see. Probably going to see Fantastic Four 2 (though my expectations aren't that high) and have yet to see Die Hard 4.0, as well as the Simpsons movie

But the first one was so rubbish, why would you bother? I know the Silver Surfer looks kinda cool, but has no personality...

It's a cartoon, for frack's sake! If they managed to make it into a good movie, nobody would care much if it was faithful to the original, would they?

I have an obsessive compulsive need to see all Marvel comics-turned-to-movies. I even saw Elektra - 'nuff said

Opinions differ, I've heard people say it was good, I've heard people say it sucked. I think - but correct me if I'm wrong - the negative reviews come mainly from people familiar with the source material, that is the animated series (and the original animated movie)

Actually, I haven't seen the animated movie, and am only vaguely familiar with the source. And still it was bad movie.

Well, Sleepy says some people at work went to a preview of it (it's not out here yet) and they were Transformers geeks

and they thought it was good.

Transformers is a decent action flick - but I would guess it depends on expectations. I enjoyed myself, but found it a tad to long, and well - didn't really need to think deeply about anything in it

Harry Potter is also quite good, as a movie. Haven't read any of the books (don't care much about them), but have watched the movies, and it is - in my view - the best of the movies as of yet.

Have also seen Die Hard 4.0 and found it quite good actually ... and am now also waiting for the Simpson movie which I'm looking very much forward to.

Movies these days do have a tendency to be too long... at two and a half hours, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 was about an hour too long, IMO. I mean, if it hadn't been so arse-numbingly long, I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more.

Saw Harry Potter last night and enjoyed that. It does have the problem that I think they've all suffered from to some extent, which is that squeezing a year's worth of events into two hours, the characterisation is somewhat sparse. The cast is brimming with British screen stars who get about three lines each!

@Xan My Danish friend is upping sticks and moving to Copenhagen next month - I might come and visit.

Very true and over here also with the annoying tendency to cut those movies in half at the most unsavory moments

. Combine that with the price they dare to charge at cinemas nowadays, I prefer to watch movies on DVD in the comfort of my own home.

Unfortunately, some movies are just meant to be seen on the big screen...

Really? Your cinema must be old school. I haven't seen a film with an interval for ages.

True also, but they don't even make money on the films - cinemas make all their money on the refreshments. Anyway, we have a pretty good deal where we pay £13.99 a month (single ticket cost is about £6.50 I think) and can see as many films as possible.

It does mean one is slightly less discriminating about what films to see, because you're not paying per film.

wasn't popping in before and then just vanishing again!

right after i did that, my gaming PC that i had built in 2002 decided to do some really bizarre things, and i'm pretty sure it's going to die soon

so, I spent hours and hours with tech support ppl...problem starting last tues am and next thing i knew it was friday! i mean literally on the phone trying to resolve problems for 4 days!!!

i broke down and ordered a new gaming pc!

so i got lots of time on my hands since i can't do any mail merge and that sort of thing for my business

** pours himself a drink ** Finally saw Transformers and The Simpsons movie. As I had been warned here, I didn't expect too much from Transformers and I wasn't disappointed. It's not that it's a bad movie per se, but it's not the great movie it could have been. It's still a nice action-packed film. The Simpsons on the other hand - brilliant! I had my doubts about the Simpsons holding their own for an entire hour and half, but they came through

The Simpsons Movie - meh. It was okay, but too much like just watching the TV series. They don't really do very much that you haven't seen before a million times, or that justifies a movie rather than a TV series. So yeah, it was enjoyable, but not remarkable.

Just so you all know, I am spamming from an arbitration in Paris. Oh, the glamorous life I lead!

Finally got around to seeing Transformers last night and I have to agree with whoever said it was rubbish. It's not even a good mindless action movie IMO. Plus it's about half an hour too long.

As far as mindless action goes it was passable, but that's about it. And noticeably too long, you're totally right, which is a shame since there was so much they could have cut without any real loss.
Besides, how hard can it be to make a good action flick about giant transforming robots, fer Chrissakes?

Any old-school TF fans who appreciate dark humor should check out some of the clips by [url="http://youtube.com/user/DRSMOOV"]DR SMOOV[/url] on Youtube, btw. They're priceless, and actually follow the plotlines of some of the shows pretty closely-the guy obviously knows the episodes really well.

Not for kiddies, mind you, contains frequent coarse language.
