I play with the latest patch, no mods. Without any cheats (codes) it is possible to get the Rift Device out and this trick is well known by many people. Many ways for that in fact.

For PIs, all you have to do is cast protection from divination. In some sense they are more powerful that Simulacarums in that they get full spells. Again, if a wizard can best a fighter in melee combat, so can a PI. Yes, there are ways you can make a PI attack.

For fighter types with Simmy all you need to do is cast restoration on them and it will set them to your level as the clones are actually level drained.

Thanx for the info, valuable indeed, yet I don't intend to carry out the Rift device since the whole idea seems like cheating to me. It was never meant to leave the sewers.

About PIs - not quite. SI: D indeed protects them to be dispelled by enemy True Sight. But not from a thief's Detect Invisibility. It turns out that the spell Non-Detection is also needed. We can summarize that with Cape of Non-Detection they are protected from both. And finally, the PI can be dispelled by a Dispel or Remove Magic spell or similar effect(such as enemy arrows of Dispelling, which are aboundant in the last Ascension battle). Against this, only Protection from Magical Weapons and SI: Abjuration helps. And if your precious buffs are dispelled via Breach or similar spells...well, you get the point. It is indeed hard to keep a PI alive.

But the valuable info about the Simulacra...thanx. Yet, if you do it with a dual-class mage, the Restoration will not give the simmy the additional spells, nor will Rest from Wish help. It will just make the simmy with original wizard level, but no high-level spells remembered. But the info is great for non-casters using Vhailor's helm.

Again, as I play with no mods, I don't have the same issues as you do so for me it works. First of all, the cloak of Non-Detection works only for characters hidden in shadows. It won't protect you if you're invisible or what not. I'm pretty sure no characters in the unmodded game use arrows of dispelling. You can basically protect yourself from anything aside from breach and +6 weapons.

While it may not work for a character that needs to memorize their spells, the resting through wish trick does work for sorcerers, as they don't have to pick spells to memorize.

I use the Ascension mod, since it does not unbalance the game in my favor, but on the contrary - makes it far more tougher to complete.

About sorcerers - they don't need restoration. Since a 31 lvl sorcerer(xp cap) can summon a 20th level simulacrum, which will have all of the HLA's and spells of the original anyway. And the effect of spells stop at lvl 20(i.e. things like spell damage and duration per level of the caster don't increase anymore after lvl 20),
so it's absolutely pointless to use a scroll on my simulacrum in this case.

Actually, you can protect from Breach and +6 weapons. Spell Shield offers a one-time protection against Breach and Spellstriking-type spells, and Protection from Magical weapons protects from any enchanted weapon.

Besides, I just remembered that the 'Rest" option is actually applied to your party characters only, and doesn't in any way affect PI, SImulacra, allies or summons.

Sounds impressive, means nothing. Smells like sophistry.

He can't. The spell's description is wrong. The Simulacrum is not created at 60% of the level that the caster is currently on. A 31st lvl sorcerer can summon a 16th level Simulacrum. For a detailed explanation check the Spells Reference.
(For those that think that the Spells Reference can't be trusted, check it for yourselves: Create a Sorcerer, level him to 31st level, cast Simulacrum, control-Q it, check its stats, voila: 16th level.)

Yes and no. While the Wish option "Make it as if the entire party has just rested a full night and re-memorized all their spells." does not work, because Simulacra don't count as belonging to the party, restored Sorcerer-Simulacra can regain their spells via Spell Trap, for what it's worth. (they have to rely on the SotM's Spell Trap)

Well, I don't know for sure if this is so in an unfixed game, yet I assure you that with the G3 fixpack, my solo sorcerer xp capped summons a simulacrum, which has full slots and all spells available - including all of the ninth and tenth lvl spells - six slots. As if it is 20 lvl. So I think it is.
