It's quite easy to be good. Just do good deeds (especially when it comes to main or side quests), kill lots of bad guys, wear bright clothing and donate money to the Temple of Avo or donate your items to the charity shop in Snowspire Village (TLC version).
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Um if you play the game on the good side and do the quest that make you good by the time you get to the Arena you'll probably be pretty close that is if you fight a lot and spend some time developing your character other wise donate to Temple of Avo is a good way and super quick if you have lots of money which is very easy to obtain (go to oakvale and buy 44 emeralds then sell them all and buy them again and each time you'll make about a 20000 profit....)

being good is kinda self-explanatory, now isn't it ? ;)

apart from deeds though, using "beauty-enhancing" tattoos and hairstyles, as opposed to those "scary" ones, might help

and yes, you get a faint halo and a nice pack of rainbow-butterflies in your "do-gooder" package
