Help with Updating

I have the Diamond edition of NWN. It has the expansions of Shadows Of Undertide and Hordes of Underdark. The pack also includes the 3 modules called, King Maker, Witches Wake and Shadow Guard.

The problem I am having is the update system on the welcome page of the game start up screen. it is the screen where you chose to plat or the settings etc.

The problem I have is the fact that when I try to update my game through the update section, it starts to update and it goes though the update all fine until it reaches the end, then I get a message telling me that following, also, this information is in red:

An incorrect version of the file was found on your system.
The update was unable to complete, since the file contents were incorrect.

I have disabled al my antivirus and firewall to ensure there is nothing blocking the successfull update, but it doesn't help. I have ran this several times and it still doesn't update correctly.

I have a strong feeling that it has to do with all the different expansions and modules that are entwined into the game. If all these expansions are in one game set and the update system is only set to updating the original NWN game, then it may not work.

My current game version is: 1.66.8074 English. I don't know know what else I can do. I went to the games Bioware home website and downloaded the other update tool they have for download.

The only problem is the fact that at bioware and other game websites I have looked at, they only have updates for the different expansions and modules separately and I failed to locate a complete update tool for the entire NWN Diamond version.


I have been reading the readme files that are in the system files for NWN and all the expansions, but they are for the different expansions. there is no readme file for the entire set. I am going to try and patch the different expansions separately and see if that helps.

Somewhere on the website you can download what they call a "critical rebuild" patch as mentioned in the error message you get.
It should contain the entire set of files you need, and not just updates, and therefore is a larger download, but also "safer" against errors.

If that doesn't help - try reinstalling cause it sounds as a buggy file. The expansions should not overwrite/mess with the chapter2 files.
