Watchers Keep Possible Bug (Spoilers)
Watchers Keep Possible Bug (Spoilers)
Cannot initiate ritual at the altar. I have all the necessary items and have taken care of the old priest with his slippers. No matter what I do the ritual will not start. I read the walkthrough and it says that the four statues should attack me the first time I place or remove any items from the Alter and this never happened. Is this a Bug? Please Help!

Did you place the bell and the candle in the altar? I believe that's the trigger for the statues to attack. You may need to exit and reload to do this, if you've placed any other combination in it, instead.

I will try that again. I initialy took the book out and then finished going through the other rooms on that level. I'll try putting the book back leaving saving resting ect. and then go back and place the bell then the candle and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.
When you took the book out of the alter, the two statues nearest to it should have attacked you. You cannot complete the ritual successfully until both these statues are dead. The last time I went through the keep I dominated one of the two and couldn't figure out why I couldn't complete the ritual. Finally the penny dropped and I killed the statue and problem sorted.
That might not have anything to do with your problem, but I thought I should mention it just in case.

Wow still nothing. Those statues won't attack me. So I gave up and went to the wilderness area where there is a merchant caravan under attack. All the baddies just stood there with red circles and didn't attack like there AI was off and nobody was controlling them. The mages would stand there and cast protections and contingencies but thats it nothing else. I reinstalled the whole game and still having this problem. Had my brother email me a saved game of his further along in TOB and his game doesn't have this problem for me. I guess I will go back to mySOA save before killing Irenicus and start TOB over and see if that works.
Anyone ever have this problem?

It sounds like your gamesave got corupted somehow.
I assume that after killing the boss in Saradush and having the conversation with Mellisan you went to the wilderness area (with the caravan). You then exited to Watchers Keep immediately, without clearing the wildernes area first, but possibly after triggering the combat with the bandits. It's possible that this might be were the problem was initiated, with som globals being incorrectly set. Can I suggest that when you get to the wilderness area next time round that you clear it out before leaving for Watchers Keep. This is what I've always done, and I've never experienced the glitch that has hit you. Although I have encountered quite a few other bugs in this part of the game. I also have had to go back to the end of SoA a few times, so you have my sympathy, not that it helps much.

That is what I did. And what you are saying makes sense to me. The real bummer is that I had all my junk stored in the first room of watchers keep and I brought it all to the Abysmal Fortress sorted everything out and sold off a large amount. Point is this was a teadious timeconsuming boar that will have to be repeated. Anyway thanks for the sympothy and I will let you know it it works out.

That's what I meant--and damn; I was hoping those two items I mentioned would get it to work for you.Jordoo wrote:Is this questiondirected to me? And if so, please elaborate. Are you talking about the Book,Bell and candle none of witch worked for me.
Are you running any mods?

Now I've got serious problems!
I started over from my save in SOA and killed Irenicus and now when I start TOB and that first Bhaal spawn talks to you and then attacks all she does is turn red and stand there. I did this twice with the same result. Its got to be something in my saved game but my Irenicus fight was as normal as ever nothing out of the ordinary.
I am running a full install SOA TOB with the official TOB patch, no mods. The only thing that I can think of is that I did outsmart that mage that comes to get Drizzst stuff. And then he would keep appearing on every screen wouldn't do anything so I stashed the stuff in Watchers Keep because it was anoying. Figured once I started TOB he would stop coming back and he did but now nobody will attack it makes the game rather boaring.

has this worked for you?
I have previously stuffed everything I thought I would need into a bag of holding for the start of ToB - sometimes missing things that I did need. is it that WK (if not concluded) acts as a chamber for both games and you can finish it in ToB?
I usually finish it before rescuing Imoen just to get loads of XP and some good items, but then I need to stash the stuff that only Cespanar can work with - e.g. helm of the rock, horns, circlet, flail head - if I used WK as my stash throughout the game, that might prevent me leaving something behind.
BTW - there is so much treasure to be looted in ToB, that keeping things to sell is hardly necessary. having a good thief can save a lot of money as well... (aroma of dolcelatte)
