Tried a clean reinstall
Ok, i tried a clean reinstall as i had seen somebody suggest for someone else with the same problem. The game worked fine with scratchy white lines everywhere across the screen rather than my character when feeding. Also when using celerity i got a big white line across the screen. When usin protean the whole screan went white and i could not see, also i had rank two protean yet it did not appear in my list of abilities hwne i scorlled through......
These however are the least of my worries. When i tried getting onto the game today....same NULL message at the exact point as before.....so if anyone can help with the NULL issue or any of the other listed issues...please do.

Do you have a DirectX 9 compatible Graphic chip ? Cause the white lines seem to be a graphic problem.
It might help if you could state your computer system here and what version of the game you have ( is it the CD/DVD version, downloaded through a game distributor site, patched ? )
The "NULL CPlayerState data" error seems to have to do with the VALVE Half Life 2 engine. Your particular error seems to be really rare. Found less then 10 results on Google, and those weren't helpfull.

Erase the entire game from your hard drive -- don't just use VTMB's own Uninstall program. Defragment your drive, and then re-install Bloodlines. Next, patch it with the official 1.2 patch from ActiVision, and then install whatever player-made mods and/or patches that you prefer. Lastly, start a brand-new character. See if that helps.
Do not use pre-existing gamesaves with a newly-patched game. Bloodlines stores map data and other info within its gamesave files, in a rather peculiar manner. It is unwise to use an older gamesave with a newly-installed and/or newly-patched version of the game. You need to start all over again with a fresh character, otherwise you're asking for glitches galore.

Sounds good
How would i go about doing the complete uninstall thing? and do you have a link for the patch? Ive also heard about people having new problems with the game after its been patched....that would suck.
Sure its not my graphics card? Would be nice for the game to be running properly. Oh, im also running it on windows 98 because when i tried on 2000 it wouldn't load up any games.
Another more recent problem ive encountered is that i cant buy ammo from anyone, it says ammo full. Perhaps down to the same problem?
This might also prove useful. When playing gangrel(i cant because of protean problems) when using protean if you have rank two will it give you both seeing in the dark and claws at the same time? I couldn't find rank 2 in my disciplines. When using gleaming red eyes the whole screen went white but if i angled the camera so that i could see through my characters body i could see. If that happens maybe its not graphics problems.
Thanks for all your help so far and in advance

You can download our True VTMB Patch from the following web page:patchmcpatch wrote:How would i go about doing the complete uninstall thing? and do you have a link for the patch?

NOTE: my website is for adults only, and it features quite a few nude mods for VTMB and other games. Do not visit that link if you are offended by cartoon nudity, as some of it looks extremely realistic (my own mods in particular).
As for how to do a complete re-installation of VTMB, you first need to run the game's own Uninstall program. After that, open up Windows Explorer and find the game's folders on your hard drive. Now, highlight those folders and delete them.
Defrag your drive and then re-install the game from scratch. By following this procedure, you'll be certain to have a totally fresh and clean installation of the game. After that, you can patch it as you see fit.

Well....Why are you using Win 98 to play the game when you have XP installed ?
Besides, your graphics are definetely on the low end side of the game as is your RAM memory. If you can, buy another 512 MB RAM and maybe a graphic card. Doesn't have to be fancy ( and to pricey ). A Nvidia Gforce 7xxx's Series or ATI Radeon 800 are doing it.
If you have a friend who got some spare memory or a graphic card try to install these to see if there is an improvement.

I'd also like to mention that trying to run VTMB on a machine with less than 256 megs of video memory is asking for trouble. The game will start up and run on less than that, but it -is- a 3-D Source game and its graphics requirements are definitely much higher than what ActiVision has listed as a minimum. If you add any high-resolution texture mods (such as my own hi-res NPC package, for example) to the game, then the issue of system resources becomes even more acute.
Generally, if you suffer from regular lag (particularly when your character is turning a corner or spinning around in one spot) and/or weird texture glitches, or if the game randomely crashes to desktop without warning, then it may be time to think about an upgrade.

patch
before i was running the game via the desktop shortcut on windows 98/ me
because 2000 crashed on the loading screens. Now ive patched it. I tried running it on both 200 and 98. All what happened was the vtmb thing came up, then demo shield, black screen and crash.
I tried running it from the discs menu rather than the shortcut. Success. But like before as soon as i started to load up the game after the new game, load game menu it crashed in the same spot it used to when i tried running it on 200 via the desktop icon. (note: i didn't try to load up any old games like the patch suggested.)
Perhaps running the disc menu on windows 98? if that would help how would i do it?

Administrator
I actualy lent the game to a friend and he had a few problems. Said he ran it as the admin and it worked fine. Only problem is i dont have the option to run this game as the admin, under where i should have the option i only get the option to run is on xp or 98, so i changed it to 98 and the game worked fine unpatched until i got to that leopold mission and it kept crashing. So i figured it needs to be patched. Do you know how i can get it so i can run htis game as the admin? Perhaps that will help.
Also i got another 512 ram

Frankly, even 1 Gb is marginal-lean for this, and the graphics card is definitely going to be an issue. As a first step, go to options for your video card and optimize for performance over quality across the board. Then game options, and drop the resolution, mapping features, shadows, chrome, and what-not to minimal levels. When you've got it as lean as it can get, try that. If that works good, then you can try edging the settings back up to find an optimal balance between quality and playability. As a final shot, you can try going to the services option under administrative tools and shutting down all non-essential services, even to the point of shutting down your internet and virus scanning stuff (no internet, minimal threat). Unplug any devices that don't have to be attached (drivers need love, too). In short, strip it down to the rails. Yes, that does mean that the keen graphic background you use on the desktop goes, and switch the desktop from the warm and fuzzy flavor of the XP interface in favor of the vanilla default '95 blue. Every resource that isn't being used for something else can be used by VTMB and colors are, in fact, a resource - more colors take more memory.
You may have got by with '98 simply because it's a leaner OS, which leaves more resources for the game to use. XP is a bit more on the hungry side - you're going to have to put it on a diet while you're playing until you get the hardware up to snuff. You can always switch on all the keen gear again afterwards.
