I say we just say everything important that happened from 1980 to 1985 happened in late 1979, and everything that happened from 1985 to 1989 happened in early 1990. The fashion, of course, is simply erroneous history. And if schoolkids ask why there seem to be missing years then we slap them upside the head and tell them to stop asking stupid questions...
