HotU: Stuck

the situation is.....

found out i was bound to the demon Mephistophles (spelling?), then he kills me and sends me to hell, now I am lying on the floor, -1hp, apparently dead with the Reaper standing over me. i get the "talk" icon when i move the cursor over him, but clicking to talk does nothing. seems i just lay there on the floor unable to do anything. have i missed something?

guess i should give more info.

i cant use anything in my inventory, heal potions, etc

tried replaying fight at city core/port, refighting that woman who bound Mephistophles

i updated game right after installing, 1 month ago

i've had no problems till now

guess i should have put spoiler in title, sorry, sure a mod will put it there for me

this is getting stupid, no matter what i do, fight with the Seer, or Valsheress, i end up in Valshaeress's throne room where i fight her, win, free the demon who kills me and sends me to the gate house where i am told that i have been permanently killed, or i lay there with -1 hp and can do absolutely nothing.

what is the solution here? what do you do to continue?

I wish I could help, but I the one time I played through that module I didn't have any problems there, and I can't remember how it went.

i have checked several walkthroughs, seems the Reaper is suppose to initiate a conversation with me. he says that if i can tell him his true name, i can go home. well, like i have said, i either get told that my charater is permanently dead and i have the option to load the game from a previous save point or exit the game to the main menu, or i just lay there with -1hp's unable to use my inventory, move, wet myself, etc.

any of you moderators got any ideas?

Have you tried with another character?

That might be the only option, to try with another character.

no, have not tried another charater, dont have one of the same calibur. been using just the barbarian since SoU and its taken me months to get this far. unfortunetly my job has me away from home 3-6 weeks at a time, then i come home for a week and thats when i get a chance to play. starting a new character? i would be REALLY pissed if i did that just to encounter the same problem!! :laugh: of course i do have a 5th lvl wizard started in NWN 1. i was curious to see if i could start a character there and play him all the way through NWN/SoU/HotU, but at the rate i play, it would be sometime next year before i got to the Gatehouse.

i find it hard to believe, that since i am playing an older game, this problem hasnt been discussed before. ive searched several forums all the way back to jan. 2006 for a similar case, but nothin! you know, if i was as lucky as i am unlucky, i would have won the lottery by now!

oh well, i head out tomorrow and wont be playing again for awhile. was really hoping to find a solution. guess as far as HotU is concerned, i'm done
