Lost Prophets In The Sewers - Unseeing Eye?

Post by LA GemDrgnBabe »

Help!!!!!! I've tried everything I can think of to defeat these jerks, but, they're too powerful! Image

I've had Jaheira cast Strength of One, & had Anomen cast Remove Fear, Protection 10'Radius, & had Edwin cast Fireball, Magic Missiles, Flame Arrows, & even had Anomen, Minsc, & Jaheira cast Doom to these guys too, but, they're kicking our butts!!!! Image

I've had to reload 15 times already trying to strategize a little different each time, by coming in from different directions as well! Image

Any help, hints, comments, suggestions, cawrds or letters are greatly appreciated!!!! Image

After a lot of try i find this way.
Summmon haste bless .... all basic spells.
And Silence spell to priests. after 2 silence they are very easy. maybe one or two of them save.
Later i found chaos spell is good too. You can try it if first one dont work.

If it is the place I think it is ,you are in the cavern with all the Beholders .The priest or prophets should be in a group in the middle.

Here's two ways I've beat them.

1. Explore the area till you get enough of the area showing (the middle where they are at. Use hide in shadows or a spell.) Keep your group back an summon everything you can and send them to the middle. Then move one of your players forward till you reveil the group. Let the summoned creatures take the blunt of the attack.

2. If you have the shield that reflects beholder rays have some of the beholders chase you up in to the group.

I've had a little problems at first with them myself.

1) you can use the cloudkill strategy.
2) use fireballs instead of cloudkills.
3) usually what I use, as soon as you see them, have clerics, and if the mage(s) have the spell, cast hold person. It usually takes out 2-3 of the priests at least.

Yoshimo Yoshimo Yoshimo
That is your answer to almost every problem in BG2. Why you say? Easy, he can set traps, and unlimited traps I might because they do not disappear when you rest.

When you have a problem, send Yoshimo in, of course in the shadows, find the first enemy, pull him back a few steps and set all regular snares (make sure to raise your trap skill when he gets levels). Then put down a special snare there as well. Then, without going into enemy view, throw a special snare up as far as you can see. This snare should be very close to the enemy you sighted earlier and go off. If he is tough he'll come running down and get devoured by the other traps. If it's a big group, keep your chars way back and have Yoshimo hide once he gets out of range. Rest and repeat. Have fun

Ok, Weasel, you're right, I'm in between the NE & NW corner of the sewers, & Edwin doesn't have cloudkill on him, & has only 1 spell for fireball, 2 for magic missiles, 1 flame arrow, 1 acid arrow, He's got a scroll of breach & a spell of breach which I also tried using as well, but, for some reason, it wouldn't work because he would get attacked by one of the other prophets/mages. Image

The same thing happens when Jaheira or Anomen try to cast spells too. I almost had them & I even had Targon? near death, but one of them cast rejuvenation? & then they were all barely injured. Image My character & Minsc were beating the crap out of Targon at the time that happened & they were using +2 swords too. However, what happened next, was that Edwin was attacked & then they ended up killing him!!!! Image

Needless to say, I had to reload & try again. I've gone all the way to the center now, & come up to where they are & hidden most of my party in the shadows there, & Edwin was practically fighting the entire battle himself with spells, & Minsc & my caaracter were beating, slicing & dicing Targon, Jaheira & Anomen were casting spells to protect Edwin from magic, but, it didn't work, because they still killed him! Image

Should I change some of Edwins spells & then have them rest so he can memorize them & kick some major butt? I'm at a loss for what to do next now. Image

Any help is very much appreciated!!!! Image Thanks in advance!!! Image

The "most efficient" strategy:
Let them be (as well as those nasty 4 gauths nearby) and return in Chapter 6 with Cloak of Reflection. They have nothing useful. The few XP you get NOW are not worthy of your sweat and tears.

LA GemDrgnBabe why dont you use Silence a cleric spell which makes them only mute fighters. They arent good at fighting much.

Its area effect so they cant see you if you throw closer to them. You can open the area with a invisible man.

BTW i don't think you have to face them, you could try to avoid the fight all together, it is mildly cowardly but it's better than slow decomposition (ss2)

Ack! I'm trying everything everyone suggested, but, we're still getting our butts kicked!!!! Image The biggest problem I'm having is that Yoshimo's snares fail to be set, including the special snares. Image

On top of that, all the mosters that Edwin summoned & the skeletons that Anomen summoned, aren't strong enough to fight these morons! Image

Any other ideas on what I should try next? I've had Edwin memorize cloudkill, but, he's attacked before he can cast the majority of his spells! Image

Any help is very much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance for all your help!!! Image

Do this:
1:send in ONE summoned monster at a time
2 Imageriests waste their spells on it and monster is killed
3:repeat steps 2 and 3 till you run out of monsters and the priests have wasted a lot of their spells
4:wait till majority of their protection spells wear off and their monsters are unsummoned (shouldn't take long)
5:move with one of your characters forward, step by step and lure the priests out,one by one or in small numbers
6:kill them...

LA GemDrgnBabe....there is always another way if you've got Yoshimo...
Do you still have the "Tuigan Bow +1"...loot from the Beast Master in the Copper Coronet???? or any other short bow will do for that matter.....
Anyway for fights like this one that you think are hopeless...(tip may seem like cheating)
1:Equip Yoshimo with short bow of your choice(preferably the best you can find) and plenty of arrows...
2:Then move your party away from him(to safety)....now "hide in shadows" and move with Yoshimo so that you can see a single enemy of the group...
3:While still "invisible...hidden in shadows" target the enemy and fire an arrow.....
4:At the instant that the arrow is fired move back(out of enemies sight) and "hide in shadows" again....
5:Repeat this procedure until you have weakened the group enough to be able to kick their a$$es or until you run out of arrows and have to restock.....remember plenty of arrows and it does take some time so have patience.......
