ARGH! Help! Deleted a save by mistake!

Post by Valonia »

I accidently deleted my last saved game and was "quick saving" too much so that the newest one left is not so new. Does anyone know the trick to restore the last deletion? This would be greatly appreciated! I'm going to go away and cool off and hope somone takes pity on me! (It's ok to add this to the stupid things done in the game thread). :)

More than likely impossible. If you did this in game, then it's not coming back. If you deleted it out of game, then it might be in the recycle bin.

But otherwise, pretty sure there's no way to recover it as saved games are always treated as temporary storage on a computer, meaning unlike a normal file, when it's deleted from the program it doesn't come back.

Rats! Sigh - thought so :(

Thank you for the reply. Was hoping against hope. Oh well. One side quest, a fort, a cave, and a shrine to redo. Better get cracking!

This might just be a little extreme but :o , wouldnt using Window's system restore solve that problem. It's a long shot and equals using a nuke on a fly but...........

Thanks Dark Sage but . . .

Thanks for the thought but that would make me too nervous about losing other stuff - plus I've redone most of it now. BTW, don't you sleep? 3:30 am for that helpful hint? :)

There are these little things on Earth called time zones, where people on different parts of the planet have different times at the same time.........lol:laugh:
Sorry, it was almost 10AM when I replied over here.

Anyway I was going to say that you could recover stuff you didt want to lose after system restore but you seem to be handeling this matter pretty well on your own. :)

No, because windows system restore doesn't recover deleted files but rather converts any file currently on the system to what it was X days ago for when you restore.

And considering save game files are temporary storage when deleting in game, there's no possible way to recover it; it would be as if you put a magnet over a hard drive with a single file on it.

Time Zones (major spoiler - NOT)

Wow Dark Sage there are different time zones? I am in awe of your wisdom! :) Actually I didn't think of it but considering your listed location, the mistake was a little bit understandable, right? Anyway, just yanking your chain to cover my embarrassment. Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. I really did appreciate it. :)
