Spells in CE

Post by Rainfrommars »

Are there still Arcane spells that you can obtain that will not work in CE? Also I assume some of the spells are just not available until you complete certain quests or obtain a certain level? Sorry for the newbie question. But I am a level 10 sorcerer with 10 in Arcane magic and I just wondered why I cannot buy certain Arcane spells. As if they are just not available yet. For instance I can buy Fire Nova a lvl 10. but not a 7,8 or 9?

I have not yet found out whether the level of the spell itself has any effect. Effect and range of a spell are determined by your level in arcane/celestial etc. magic.

I seem to remember that fire nova worked fine with me before my character had gained level 10, but the effect was just not that impressive.

Thank you for your response! Based on the list of non working spells. It looks like there are no level 7 or 9 spells. However spells like lvl 6 FlameThrower, IceBall and lvl 8 Ice Nova were not listed. I have not found these in game yet. Has anyone had experience with these spells? Also A question that I have been itching to ask. In alot of Games Armor affects Spell Casting. I've heard different things on this from this forum. Maybe I misunderstood, is there an effect with Heavy Armor?

You'll find some spells when you eventually reach Grymlok. I think he has the ice spells.

If you are having penalties from wearing armor it affects casting. But if proficient and strong you can cast to full effect in the heaviest armor.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

I do know that there are a few Arcane spells that cannot be found among the merchants. You'll have to find them in the wild (dungeons, monsters, treasure chests, etc...).
One thing that I have found is that all Arcane spells do work, but not all Nether do. (too bad it's not indicated as such in the DL section of Gamebanshee) I know for a fact that Confusion and Suffocating Cloud do not work in the collector's edition. There might be others that don't work, but I haven't bothered trying every Nether spell. My favorite nether spell is the poison cloud. Not only is it awesome for large groups of monsters, but it also stuns them (side effect of continuously taking damage).

Poison Cloud is cool

Mixed up a batch and seeded it at the temple in Arindale (rather expensive). Bought up 50 of them the struck out for Ulm finally. OH works great on them big mobs.

So far, my favorite nether spell is the summon Deathlord.

They are quite powerful and tend to stick around for some time.
(Mostly, I use them as distractions to continue my trek to my destination without wasting precious time in battle.)

Think of them as "meat shields" for purposes of keeping to D&D terminology.

Poison Cloud

I agree with ya, canis4play. Poison Cloud ROXORZ! I killd a coupla Dire Witches and an Undead Zombie with it in FG. But for some reason, Poisonous Touch doesn't work. Neone kno why this is? Cause I'd really like ta use this spell.
