"Dishiness" Dishing it Out

Post by dragon wench »

Disclaimer: First of all my apologies if this topic has been covered... I thought it might have been, but my searches didn't really bring that much up.. Not to mention that my general state these days is resulting in a failing memory
Anyway, obviously please close if need be.

To topic, I was mulling over the fact that a lot of games and player-made mods encourage scantily-dressed characters. Now, I don't especially care, this thread isn't really intended as a debate on ethics, and I figure we play games to have fun, so why not enjoy them however we please.
And hey... if some 14-year-old adolescent gets excited by a bunch of half-naked pixels, well all the more power to him as far as I'm concerned. :p

However, I just find the concept of half-naked warriors weird. I mean, for me, at least, it tends to counter role playing.. because to my mind rushing into battle dressed in little more than a loincloth is suicidal. If you have a character such as a mage, then there's no problem; mages cast protective spells after all. But... warriors???

So, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else here tries to avoid outfitting fighter types in gear that makes them look like models for Victoria's Secret?

As I said, this has nothing to do with prudery, just practicality ;)

Yes, I admit being a male of the species.. :D to being one to appreciate the female form... :) ....
but just not in my games...having downloaded too numerous to mention number of mods for various games...
I have found that too many of them carry the scanty clad warriors too far for me....
my solution is ...I just don't use them.
My warriors/fighters use armor and my magic users while not having to worry about armor,
just don't run around in a g-string...

Modder's preference, in my opinion. In most of the games I've played so far, I have never installed these types of mods before so I can't say much about it. To be honest, though, you don't need mods to do this. In the KOTOR series, all you do is strip them of their clothes and voila! They're now in underwear. Simple as ABC. :p But there is no way I'm going to let them go into a fight wearing nothing but underwear and armed with a stick (unless you're in a part of the game where all your gear are removed and you're left with nothing but your bare essentials).
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Gotta agree, I don't see the logic behind a breastplate the size and shape of a strapless bra. Then again, I don't see the logic in a forty septim bounty for killing the king of the imperial city when forty gold is less of a cost than your current weapon.
