Local map washed out.

Post by Nunya »

I just bought a new computer with a new video card (7600GT). I have been playing Oblivion for over a year on an old computer with the help of "oldblivion".

On my new computer, I loaded Oblivion...KoTN...Shivering Isles...Dark UI...Cyrodiil_Terrain_Map...and a couple of other minor mods. The same mods I had on my old computer (had no problems).

My problem: The local map appears to be "washed out". For instance, on a city map, I get tan outlines of the buildings (no definition to them) with a white back ground. No trees, no color, etc. The "undiscovered areas" are white instead of black. Any ideas?...Does anybody know what file controls the look of the local maps?

Sounds like a video card issue. I'm moving this to tech support, but leaving a redirect, so hopefully somebody in one of the two forums will be able to help you.

Everything else on the game is working perfectly with this card. I have updated to the new drivers. The OS is Vista and the vista/Nvidia patch has been downloaded and installed.

If I can't find help/ideas from the forum, I will try a reinstall. Would rather not because I would rather be playing not troubleshooting ;) , but will if it is my only option.

I think I have found out what I need to do.

Through a different forum, I was instructed to set bLocalMapShader= to 0 instead of 1.
