Toxic caves question

Post by Moeror »

I thought there was supposed to be armor and bozar down in the lower level of toxic caves? I went down there annd all I got was some stimpacks, and ammo and a stinkin laser pistol. I heard the loot changed if patched, i got v 1.02.

I don't ever recall there being a bozar down there, from when I played .... but as you say, it might have been changed in a patch.
Some combat armor and some misc stuff is what I recall being there.

However, it is ages since I've played Fallout 2, so my memory might be off.

The loot down there did change in one patch.

I've vague memory that in 1.01 there was Bozar down there, but it was removed for 1.02. Though I could be wrong, it could as well be that there was no Bozar down there until 1.03. I've hardly ever went down there, so my memories can't serve better. Though "easiest" way to check this would be to start new game in 1.03, then see if there is Bozar. If not, do the same with 1.04 (though I think it would be no use, as I'm rather sure 1.04 didn't change that) and see what the result is. In any case, the change did happen, I can't remember for sure if it was in 1.02, 1.03 or 1.04, though I'm rather sure it was either 1.02 or 1.03

EDIT:
After a bit searching, I found this thread about Toxic Caves. As stated in the quote posted by me there, in unpatched version you can't find those stuff down there. So, probably the change was introduced in 1.03, as you can't find those items while playing version 1.02.

Anyway, I do recommend patching the game and starting over (as I gather, you haven't played much yet?). This is only because the 1.02 version is very buggy, and patching first to 1.03 and then to 1.05 (fan made patch) should remove most of the annoying problems. Though depending on the version, you may have to include children patch as well (basically, if you haven't seen any children by this time, you need the patc).
