Help Plz!!! Graphical Problem!
Hello GameBanshee forum community, I am having a problem with graphical display of the game. I am running Icewind Dale II on Windows Vista home premium 32 bit, with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS video card. On normal settings of 32 bit colors, some interface icons get sorrounded by a black square, as well as items that drop on the floor. I tried fiddling around with the configurations in every way possible and finally by setting the game to 16 bit and turning on standard software blt, I was able to run the game without these black boxes. The thing is that the game slows down Incredibly at random times, and the game pointer flickers continuosly. Can anyone help me find a solution? Plz help me out.

Welcome to Game Banshee
I'm no expert, but I have heard that Vista can cause issues with a lot of older games... so that might be your problem right there.
Hopefully the more technically minded people around here will be able to offer some solutions. Let's see how this thread does here, and if it doesn't get any pickup I'll move it to Tech Support.

Hi, I have found a solution to this problem.
Simply disable hardware acceleration. If you don't know how to do this, click this link: Turn Off Hardware Acceleration to Improve Video Quality
Now you can use whatever graphical options you like! Set the colors to 32-bit, start the game and enjoy. There will be no lag, and as far as I can tell, no image quality loss.
Just remember to re-enable hardware acceleration afterwards.
This was tested using Windows XP with all the latest updates, nvidia drivers 162.18 and 163.69, with Icewind Dale 2 in 1024x768 32-bit mode, both windowed and fullscreen, using an XFX 8800GTS 320MB Extreme Edition.
