My Bard can't run his play

Post by QuenGalad »

I've got the theater in the five flagoons, I did all the previous quests, and I think it's time to actually run the blasted play! However, nothing of the sort happens. I'm in chapter 7 right now, quite, quite late in the game, is this because of that? Last play-related event was ch6, day 99. Then, I passed to ch7, did almost everything that had to be done, and went to see the play, and it's not going. I spent 20 days (! ;) ) in an inn, waiting. Nothing. I tried going to other locations and then back again. Am I forced to do the quest before I run ch7? Any help would be very appreciated.

Iirc the bard quest involves some timers. Are you sure you didn't miss some?

I'm not sure I understand... What do you mean "involves some timers"? are the quests triggered by some other event? I thought it was just time passing... I did all the previous things - choose the leading actress, then get the musician, the priest... everything. I checked with the GB walktrough, everything was all right. It was day 99 when the director said the play would start in a week's time. So off i went, adventuring, came back after a week, and nothing. It's day 135 now, and guess what? Anyway, even if i get to do the play, i won't remember the lines after all this time, so i won't do it properly anyway. :( So much for being a bard.

Incidentally, if you play a female bard, does she have to play the male role in the last quest regardless? I suppose no-one bothered with making a female bard protagonist to check?

I mean there is a timer after which you can't continue the play anymore. Not sure if this is the case with this specific quest, but it shouldn't have triggered anyway if I look at the situation. Iirc you get called for it by a messenger if it is time to do the play. Not sure if it follows real time or game time though.

Iirc you still have to play the male role as a female bard. It is some time ago I did this though.

OK,I know that, but the messenger is a small boy, would he come after me to Suldannesselar? On previous occasions, I always had to come back to Athkatla, and only then did the boy come to meet me. He didn't spawn in Umar Hills, or in Trademeet. About the time i thought the play should happen, I came back to town and waited for the boy to come, but he didn't. I don't know why. When I speak to the director, he says that the show will take place soon and the actors are excited. Is there something I can do about this?

That's him alright, I don't think he will follow you to Suldannesselar. As far as I can tell it is still possible to complete the bard quest. Only thing i can think of is that you slept through 20 days and it is a real time trigger. If this is the case you can wait (don't do anything) to make the trigger happen. Walk around a bit after that to see if he shows up there.

Maybe all you need to do is to CLUA in the messenger.

Do you know the CLUA codes to trigger the events? I'd like to try that.
