Wolfbane - first off, I'm a newbie.
Here's my opinion based on my limited gameplay + tons of help from the experts.
I'm sure you would be better off taking their advice.
If you're on PC, download "Fair Magicka Regeneration" mod.
I like to keep control of skills ... so I hop all over to up Acrobatics and bride/taunt to up Speechcraft
Blue Sky(... expert ganmer) tipped me = he Sneaks all around town to up that stat .. I never tried it ... then it would better in MISC ?
Chameleon at 100% is easier if you use the "Ring of Surroundings" + "Amulet of Shadows".
Both can be obtained early in the game.
Combined you're over 100% for 30sec.
Will need to get Enchant up.
What I try to do is concentrate on a few skills.
Put those I will augment those skills with in MISC ... buy them up OR game them up(.. like hopping, bribing etc)
Here's my current Scout type build.........>
MAJOR
* Marksman
* Light Armor
* Security
* Spear
* not used
MINOR
* not used
* not used
* not used
* not used
* not used
MISC
* those skills to augment my main skills
Alteration, Illusion, Mysticism, Restoration, Enchant, Sneak, Alchemy ... use shortblade early
Use them like crazy to up them or buy them up.
For instance= if you've played the game before you know where a vault key is ... that's $ 150,000 whenever you want it
After you get the RING+Amulet you can steal $125,000 or more of glass armor.
I added the sexy glass armor mod = believe her inventory was near $350,000
So money is no object.
Can always use Alchemy to make potions for $.
If you consider that cheating, just robbing Balmora, Caldera and Ald-Ruhn(... so much clothes, I think you weigh over 700lbs) can provide enough money to carry you for awhile.
* put the Mark spell next to Creeper *
Killing the assasin nets you armor.
Marksman and Light Armor work off Agility ... so I'll get 5 points on level up
Before each level I buy 10 levels of Heavy Armor... at level up, I get 5 Endurance
Before resting to level I buy 10 levels of Armorer ... so I'll get 5 Strength at level up
So I get three 5's in my main attributes till I max them.
Guess what I'm saying is............>
I look at my main skills ... put them in MAJOR
Look at what will augment those skills + will help my build ... determine at what level I need them ... if about 50 or so, I put them in MISC = easy to train them to this level ... have noticed some trainers will train higher ? = did not make notes
... I know where some of my master trainers are, so that takes care of those skills ... if needed, I drain; then train
I noticed last game, I overleved and every outdoor fight seemed way too tough ... for example with Destruction/Mysticism maxed + Fortify INTL on all my clothes, I still ran out of magicka before killing a Demora, Demora Lord etc ... I had to either Levitate and replenish my magicka OR whip out my wakazashi with absorb health and crack every enemy over the head = not exactly how a spellcaster should play ?
So, I'm looking for that level where a good build should ... destroy easy enemies; need tactics/strategy for tough ones ... some good ol' fashioned scrambling for the 'boss" type enemies
I choose Personality and Luck.
Both hard for me to level.
Just started as an Imperial, so I picked Speed + Luck.
You can buy Drain Skill spells = helps to pump up those important skills
It's cheesy, but I need a little help or I die often.
I'm still trying that perfect mix to keep me from overleveling.
I hope it helps
I would wait for the experts opinions.
Not sure how many times you've played the game = don't wan to insult your intelligence ... just giving you my pre/early game "to do list"

Well Z..
Major and minor sound interesting.....
one thing you might give a thought is to choose the birthsign that gives you nightsight...or use the race Khajit...
I found this useful on "like" characters I've played...plus you don't have to lug around potions....
Sad to say I've given up playing it on Xbox.so any hints I can remember I'll either pm or post here...the lure of mods drove me to pc and I've never went back..
but back on subject...
I would switch out illusion for another of your choice, I've never really liked it, and when I finally got proficient with it, my character never really needed it that much. but that's my personal opinion, you'll soon find everybody has their own way of playing this game...
The last few run throughs I've done had all had similar stats, with every now and then marksman thown in...
oops have to add that the hint about sneaking every where, it works, but gets tiresome real quick...LOL
Welcome to the forums...
EDIT....another oops to admit is the birthsign......and nightsight...it was the Begger's Nose I was thinking of....the detect ability and unlock.....
