problem in abazigal lair

Post by tweed »

hi guys i recently reinstalled TOB again and im loving every moment of it

but while in abazigal's lair i inadvertedly ticked off the mad mage whom im supposed to trade the gauth eye stalk with and he locked himself inside his room. then i thought oh well maybe i shjould just kill the dragon and get the wardstone from her. problem is even with the wardstone i still have the magicks or invisible form blocking me from going in. any idea how i can get around this glitch? i dont have another save to backtrack to so its kinda of a bother for me. thanks in advance!

accidents happen

I was going to do that task the peaceful way and ended up having a scrap with the dragon. my PC and dragons do not get on and apart from a scorch mark or two it was PC 1 dragon 0. the mad bloke can only release the dragon from its geas, so having killed the dragon should have the same effect as it going away. did you have the dragon turn hostile before killing it? sometimes it requires a creature to be hostile before its death creates the correct flags.
perhaps if you go back to the mad professor, you can find a way to kill him? I once had to do so because I picked his pocket badly...

what save-games do you have? because if the dragon's death does NOT render the entry openable, you are screwed for finishing the game without using shadowkeeper etc and a lot of work.

the mad bloke barred the door so i dont really have a way to get to him again :(

hmm i have a game save up to the point where i offended him and he hid himself so damn this is not good.

i attacked the dragon first before it turned hostile. maybe ill try again later. if not i think im gonna just give up on it :( shadowkeeper doesnt work on TOB after all so i doubt theres a way to get through this.

BG2 seems to be a very buggy game by the looks of it :(

You can swim to the mad bloke and either do his quest or kill him.

I had exactly the same bug last time I played it though. Killing dragons is fun and time-saving, so I went for it, but was unable to enter afterwards. I had to load, get the scroll from the mad guy and do it again. And the dragon was most definately hostile.

Seems like a major bug to me. >.<

there might still be a way

perhaps using the console command which kills everything might open the door? ...or give yourself the scroll? (I never use the console).

I can't remember if you can see him at that point.

I would expect that once he is dead, all doors unlock, which would let you into his lab.

alternatively - might it be possible to do something ranged or area? is it possible to gate in something into his lab?

usually spells do not pass doors, but I am not certain that rule is sacrosanct.

I reckon somebody can solve your problem so that you can continue - I hate it when I get to a game stopping moment.
