I noticed the detials under the character tab.
2d6 slashing damage.
+2 physical damage.
I know that there are 3 main types.
Slashing, Piercing and Bludgeoning.
To satisfy my curiousity, I made an armour
Damage resistance 5/-
for all three.
And walked around talking every hit possible. Unless they missed.
The damage resistance for fire/cold/magical... worked fine.
But I noticed taking loads of damage in graveyard when I walked on the traps that shot out arrows. Loads of it. I compared my damage to Khelgar's. It was almost similar.
I suspect it is because "physical damage" is different from the other 3 melee damage. And there is no resistance for it.
Anyone has any clues on this?

In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

Nope, Physical damage isn't different from all three but rather it is all three to begin with. It bypasses DR bludgeoning, DR slashing, DR piercing, and any combination thereof.
Though, Damage Reduction 5/-, while it looks good, it's actually incredibly weak. By the time you could get something like that, 5 damage is nothing any enemy couldn't cause.

Thank you for the speedy reply.
Been wondering if its a bug that DR melee doesn't work.
If DR 5/- is weak, then the inherent B and FB builds recieve pretty lousy traits. I think theirs is DR 3/- at best right?
In such a case, physical damage bypasses all DR, then which weapon would you choose?
Enhancement +2 VS 1d6 Sonic Enhancement +1
Moreever, I am wondering
why does arrows from traps in the graveyard (or any map for that matter) have physical damage? AIn't it supposed to be all piercing type?
Maybe I go make a DR 15/- armour in the toolset. But that just feels too much like cheating.

Dunno what a B or FB build is....
1D6 sonic is better, an extra +1 to attack and damage isn't as good as a +1D6 damage. Though, if you're having a hard time hitting things, go for the +2.
As for traps, it should be piercing, but meh. Dunno.

Barbarian and Frenzied Berserkers.
I read somewhere they recieve DR /-.
If those arrows are piercing, I suppose DR on armour doesn't work.
Don't mind another question.
DR 5/- means that if I recieve a damage of 10, I only take 5. Ignores the first 5 right?

According to DnD rules, a barbarian receives damage reduction 1/- at 7th level, 2/- at 10th level an additional +1 to reduction each three levels later. The "-" indicates that no weapon is able to overcome the reduction (contrary to a 1/cold iron which is overcome and thus not reducing the damage done by a weapon made of cold iron).
Damage reduction reduces the damage taken on a hit by most weapons, unarmed attacks and natural weapons. So with DR 5/- you receive only 5 points of damage for a hit 10 points of damage worth.
At least for my warlock damage reduction is working, so it should work for a barbarian too. But I don't know if this holds for armour too.

I've always read the +2 physical damage as well, physical damage. It's of the type of whatever the physical component of the damage does. On a longsword it's slashing, on a spear it's piercing, on a morningstar it's bludgeoning. It does (at least should) NOT do all 3 types of physical damage. The only reason it's written as physical is probably because it's easier to write it out on the sheet instead of checking for the damage type of the weapon the enchantment is on; not that that should be that hard to do considering everything else actually.
On traps, the damage dealt by the "arrows" are actually not the usual 1d6 arrows show from a bow. They are grade by the "Weak", "Strong", "Deadly" etc classification of traps, and if you check the damage, check out also the trap class. More powerful traps deal more damage and even with a 5/- DR can still potentially rack up large damage on a single hit.

Arcane type damage are fine with me. No probs there.
I saw it again.

arrow damages <main char> 5 (5 physical)

Physical damage from arrows and traps.
