Stuck in Durlags Tower

Post by Blipse »

Hi, i've got a problem in durlags tower. To keep it short, i 'lost' the wine i have to give to one of the warders in the basement. i probably tossed it out somewhere, but i cant remember where..

i've already tried to create a new bottble of this special wine using CLUAConsole:CreateItem("MISC1A") wich works, but he doesnt accept it, he just wont talk to me unless i have the original.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to Gamebanshee.

The game cannot tell the difference between an "original" item and an item you created with the CLUAConsole. So that is not the problem.

Are you saying that the warden doesn't talk to you at all? Even if you don't have the wine bottle, he's supposed to say something.

Also, are you sure that you are talking to the correct warden?

Well you see, when i first came to durlag tower i was a mere level 3 so i completed all of the warders riddles except for the last one, because when i would give him the bottle they would all attack and i wasnt ready for that yet, so i decided to keep the bottle with me and come back later. wich is now.. but i forgot all about the bottle, and i dumped it somewhere.

When i found a way to create this item in the console i was sure it was going to work, but all it still gives me is a message that he hasnt got anything to say..

This might or might not help.
Three suggestions.
1) If you have already taken the wine from Beregost to the Friendly Arms you could try pickpocket to get that wine back. I don't think that there is any difference in the wine but I could be wrong. If you haven't, try using the wine from Beregost.
2) Sometimes just leaving an area and coming back is sufficient to sort out bugs in the game. So go and do something else and then come back again.
3) You could just try killing him. I've never tried it but it might work.

I don't think it will work. The warders are unkillable "props" until you activate them by completing their quests. (They have 1000 hit points and 100% resistance to all kinds of damage and spells.) At that point, they actually disappear and are instantly replaced by new characters with completely different .CRE files. Even if you could kill the original incarnation of Love ("LOVE"), he/she does not have the wardstone that is required to operate the lift that goes to the next level. You have to defeat the second incarnation ("LOVEM") which has the wardstone in his/her inventory.

I suppose you could create LOVEM or the wardstone (MISC2B) by using the CLUAConsole. But I can't figure out why the game is messed up in the first place. Sorry.

Spoiler, Highlight to read.
There is a very obvious sword on a plinth. In the room opposite there is a series of texts about the Durlag which you have to read. having done so, the sword glows with pride. Return to talk to Pride.
