Try making as powerful a charm spell as you can and cast it on him/her.

Hey, I could understand that! :D And since I could...

Open the console by using ~. Then click on the NPC, and type:

setdisposition 100

Hit return, and close the console. That should work. If it doesn't, I think there's one more command to try.

How aobut

<NPC name> stopcombat
<NPC name> setfight 30
setdisposition 100

...where <NPC name> is the name you see after you bring up the console and click on the NPC (so it may be different from the regular name you usually see on the screen.) Try that.

i think it might just be my computer or my game...

non of the ubuve worked...

i did get him to stop combat... i took more than one time for the coad to sink in but it finaly worked...

i set his disposition to 100 and that worked to... but the only diolouge i could get out of him was the orage-red "Goodbye"... he would say nothing else...

but thank you for the ideas... i tried and retried them... but to no avail... :(

thanx again...

Goodbye is all you will get until you've reached the correct stage in the quest.

Spoiler Highlight to read:
Spoiler
Until Falco gives you the quest to talk to Graring about the strange ice, 'Goodbye' is all you'll get, as stated above. If, having got the quest from Falco (it's the 8th quest for the East Empire Company) you still can't progress, try typing
Journal CO_8 50
into the console.

End of spoiler
