MotB Chap2, Skein, quest, help, spoilers.

Post by Acleacius »

Fighting the camera in these sewers and possible I am missing something, since really frustrated with the camera.

The 3 Imaskar devices, seem to need to be activated to lower the water to proceed, yet there only seem to be 2 levers to activate them.
There is a 3rd lever but would seem to break another quest.
So, is there a 3rd non quest breaking lever I can access by maybe activating a specific 2 of the 3 devices or in a certain order?

The thing that seems odd is that these 3 devices seem to be the Main Quest, so why offer a sidequest which you are forced to break to complete the MQ, that is so weird and forces me to guess I am just missing something due to cameraitis.

Thanks. :)

I was puzzled about this myself as I solved it without knowing or thinking much about what to do, so I'm still not quite sure of what I did (first time I usually just play through a game, and second time I start to notice more systematically what to do :D )

I did free the Elemental and wacked him, so I would think I activated 2 devices and had free access to the mad Hag which runs around screaming immensely.
I do not recall activating 3 devices at all.

You have to do some running back and foward, because once you open up into the Hag, you can also exit from that room.

I'm sorry I can't be more accurate, but I had little trouble moving on here myself, so I didn't pay much attention to it.

Well, there are 3 devices. One lever is in it, second is in posession of the gnol near the sleeper(you need to bring him a 'shiny' dwarven axe), third can be take from the device with earth elemental (left down corner I belive).

Thanks for the answers, Xandax and Nar. :)

Yes, but using the lever from the Earth Elemental kills the sidequest, as you can Not get the lever back.

So, this is the problem, where is the 3rd lever?

Since for there Not to be a lever, means that they gave us a sidequest to complete, which can't be completed unless you give up the Main Quest story.

Maybe as Xandax, mentions there is a way to only use 2 devices, but once I tried to kill the Earth Elemental, it caved in passages.

I certainly could be missing things here, but that's why I ask for help. :)

Thanks for any tips.

After I killed the elemental (and possible use that lever on the second device) I went back and the passage to the Hag was open, and I could exit the dungeon from her lair. I might have missed some side-quests doing so (but got 100K reward from the Djini) but as said - first time through I usually just play the game so ... *shrug* :D

I haven't been able to get this answered on 3 different boards, so I investigated, finding two different ways to solve this.

One by activating 3 Air Elementals which drains all water allowing you access to all the bodies but preventing access to the Earth Elemental, to complete the dinji side quest.

Or opposite killing the Earth Elemental prevents you from draining the water, as the most you can do is 2 getting you some nice Influence, Essences and the loot in the water, but allowing the completion of the side quest killing the Earth Elemental.

:)

I actually did this area without completing the device...although i was lost half the time :D and was pretty much running around clueless / killing things as i went. Then got worried once i found out the way 'back' to the device was blocked off after killing the elemental. So, i just went off looking for another doorway to the hag woman - who also 'pisshed' me off cuz she possessed Safiya for half the time fighting her. Then after, was wandering somemore since i never lowered the water level - found my way to slumbering coven - then my way out

...either those were failsafe's incase of bugs or just luck.. idk

Actually, if you tell him you will kill the elemental and you won't, you get (at leats I think I did) an...alternative way to finish the quest (and have it on 'completed' status in your journal). The Djini seems to be stupid enough to attack you and... well, you know the rest :P . I don't remember the loot or exp reward though.
