Deus Ex forum?

Post by Toromos »

Hi folks,

Sorry to ask such a horribly newbish question, but I couldn't find an answer when I searched the forums. I noticed there's a game site here for the Deus Ex games, but no forum. Am I overlooking it, or is there really no forum?

Thanks so much,

Toromos

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

Well, if you can't find it in the forum index, it probably doesn't exist or maybe it has been closed by a moderator. I haven't been a member for that long, but I did not notice a Dues Ex forum when I joined.

We had a forum dedicated to Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War some time ago, but it really didn't see a whole lot of use so it was combined with the RPG Discussion forum. If you have any questions about either game, that would be the best place to post them.

I see. So thats where it ran off to...

Since this thread is going to the dumps, I thought I might just ask you Buck. When will the new software be up and running?

The site is still kind of slow.

Switching servers isn't as easy as just swapping a hard drive, though I wish it was. After confirming all of the hardware specs, I have to fill out paperwork for both the activation of a new server and the cancellation of the old one. Data has to be sifted through, archived, and prepared for a quick transfer. Email and mailing lists have to be recreated, our many scripts have to be ported, and all the software on the new server has to be verified for compatibility with the content that's coming over. On top of that, I have to schedule time with our host's support team for DNS changes and to make sure they're available if anything goes wrong or the servers need to be physically rebooted, etc. That's a quick rundown, anyway :) .

Right now, it's looking like it will be sometime next week. I'll post an announcement once everything is ready to go.

How nice for all of us if it was, though I didn't mean my post to sound that way. Just wanted a handle on how long more it'll take to clear up the lag. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work you are putting in for us regular members, Buck. :)

Much appreciated.
