Hello y'all. I've a little problem...

Post by tejntanga »

This is my first run through this game. Good stuff, good fun, good game.

But...

I've been getting on with the main quests after polishing off everything else and now I've just recovered the Sarcophagus and gotten automagically teleported back to LaCroix's tower. Cool. Let's crack that baby open, right?

Right?

Wrong... apparently, LaCroix, in all his royally pompousness gets pwned by a glitch. He just walks over all the way in front of the couch and kind of twitches. Then he stands still... and twitches. And so on and on and on. No unveiling of the Sarcophagus' contents, no nothing.

What's a gamer to do?

I'm using the official Bloodlines v.1.2 patch and the latest unofficial bug-fix-patch thingie that I got from Gamespot. It was released a couple of weeks ago, so I reckon it's up to date.

Thanks in advance!

Spoken to beckett?

Main question, did you speak to beckett there? Also try reloading an earlier save before you got to the box. If you,ve not got quik saves i would call you stupid but we've all been there :o Also just stabbing blindly here but ever tried playing the game 'ou natural'? I mean no patches, no upgrades or anything? I mean thats what ive been doing and i cant buy gun ammo or pick it up but you use melee right?

Chances are if you try it unpatched you wont have any problems, my computers f**ked anyways.

Does your computer meet the requirments needed to run the game? Have you had any graphical issues that may have interfeared with laxcrois being there? Hes meant to be standing in front of the window. Get a dongle, back up your save and completely reinstall the game. Only advice i have for now sorry :(

What patch and what version did you get from Gamespot exactly, the alleged "true" patch or the original unofficial patch? If it was the second, did you install the "basic" version or the full one and if so, did you install the "basic" one on top of the full one as it is supposed to be? In case you didn't do the latter, open the console and type G.Story_State = 60 to continue once you are with the prince.

I got this patch from GS:

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines True VTMB v5.04AT Unofficial Patch
Posted Oct 1, 2007 | From: Tessera | Size: 53.6MB

My system very comfortably overshoots the game's requirements, so no problem there.

I'll try reloading before the brothers Mangle and Maim (sorry, Blade and Claw... they were hard!!) which means I'll have to kill them all over again. *sigh*
If that fails, I'll do a complete game overhaul, reinstall and get your guy's patch instead of the one from GS. That should take care of things.

Also, who was Beckett again? I have a terrible memory with names, but I'd remember if the dude was anywhere near in the last few moments - that is, at the Giovanni mansion or back at LaCroix's tower. There was no Beckett that I can recall. Why would I need to talk to him anyway?

Then it's probably a problem caused by this patch. You should try the original unofficial patch instead, if you dislike major changes use it's basic version.

Beckett is the archaeologist you met first after the warehouse in wolf form and then later on at the museum as well.

Did you try speaking with LaCroix? At this momment he is not supposed to open the sarcophagus. You are supposed to see a cutscene and speak with Beckett, who will give you a quest "Society of preservation...".

I'd say it's not a patch problem, maybe there is no problem at all, just tejntanga waits instead of speaking to Beckett or so. Hard to judge from what he already said.

No... from what I gather, Joker dude is supposed to try to open the nice treasure chest, and then the scene completes when he assigns you your next mission. THEN, you can choose to talk to wolf boy.

Maybe someone familiar with the script trigger might be able to help, or better, give the sequence code to jump to, like the original workaround to the "crashing at the boat during escape from a certain hideout" issue prior to the patches.

Actually it works like this: you speak with him, you see a cutscene, he fails to open, gives you orders to open it. Then you speak with Beckett and then you get the quest "Society of preservation of professors".

Right, that's what I figured. Cos as soon as the fight with the Brothers was done, I got a cutscene showing me loading the sarcophagus into a truck... and then instant teleport over to LaCroix's penthouse hall place. He stands by the window and I can go talk to him (which completes a quest or two, gets me some XP, etc). Then he says "so let's go open the Sarcophagus" and we move over by a couch... whereupon he stands there and twitches every now and then. As though he were trying to move somewhere but couldn't get past something and just kept trying...

I believe drastic measures are called for. Will I be able to use my save-games still if I uninstall the game and subsequently re-install (and patch to 1.2, then use the patch you guys have here, v.4.3, I believe)?

Yes, so at this part you must see another cutscene where he speaks with Beckett, then tries to open Sarcophagus and fails. Then he asks you to find a way to open it.

Unfortunatelly, no.

Besides, you can ask those guys who created this patch for support. If you believe that it's the patch to blame.
