Entering the Mindflayers Lair (Sewers) Help PLS

Post by FireStormNZ »

Hello there ladies and Gents,

In my current game of BG2 I have my protagonist who I am addidng proficiency slots to in the warhammer category in anticipation of finding the hammer of thunderbolts.

The problem I am having is this: I cannot open the locked door in the sewers behind which the mindflayers lair is. I thought the entrance could be from above in the temple district but it doesn't seem to be so. I also thought getting the Crom Faeyr scroll might enable me to open the door to the lair but that didn't work either.

Does the door only unlock after a certain amount of time or when a certain chapter is reached or does something special need to happen before i can open it?

If you can help me out I would really appreciate it.

Wrong forum: they can't help you in BG3. ;) Moving to BG2.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

You need a key to open the door.

On where to find the key (spoiler, highlight to read):
Spoiler
The key can be found in Windspear Hills, in the room before you enter Firkraag's lair, on the corpse of Tazok.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”

Thanks for your help, that door was driving me crazy. In exasperation I was heading to windspear hills next anyways so I feel like I would have ultimately found the key so I'm very happy as i still feel legit :) Thanks.
