Hello. I just want to help :) (I may be wrong but...) qualifying as the last one of the dumb vampires that actually needed 20 tries to do it :o , I'm positive about the fact that I could tell what *I* was doing wrong...
And, no, a video replay wouldn't help, unless you have a webcam aimed at your keyboard. Key configuration, that's the answer.
My fault: I never paid too much attention to swimming commands (and little attention to fast-jumping)... Result was, even if I had very clear in my mind what I had to do (and how fast I had to do it), it was just too difficult. Changed key configuration and... voilà!
(You know, all these split-seconds: I was not smelling roses... just looking for the "jump" and then the "w" key in the dark!) ;)
My hint: get them all near on your keyboard it helped me... Hope it helps somebody else too
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Key configuration? I never use anything but W A S D for swimming. And at the given situation I just push W (default for "forward"), thats it.

As we are at it, the next question wuold obviously be "And what key do you usually use for jumping?"

I mean, assuming that you can do it fast enough and find it easy, and some other players do not, I would suppose that those players need some kind of suggestion about how to move/jump/swim fastly... seeing a video about how fast you can do it would not help, unless you can explain exactly *how* you do it imho

I just thought you use some special keys for swimming different from those for moving.

I'd link to my post http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/961364-post15.html and some others in page one for the steps. The descriptions might be lacking and a video would capture what you would easier visualize what needs to be emulated.

As to the keys used in swimming, they're the same WASD keys used when running normally. The extra swim keys are more of a bother than actual practical use to me, the mouse look will orientate you well enough, and I almost exclusively only swim forwards (W) anyway.

For jumping, I use the spacebar, and I crouch with the ctrl key.

If it helps, (sorry if it's information overload) I typically play FPS with my middle finger on the W, first finger on the D, ring finger on the A, thumb on the spacebar, and the little finger hovering between the shift and cntl key to toggle the crouch and occasional need to swagger/walk just for kicks.

To me, this portion's most difficult part is getting the 180 turn, 2-step run, jump+crouch over the railing. The rest follows easy enough.

I suppose, one can also turn off clipping to side step the "non-RP punishment" if it's not your style to FPS much. I can understand some people getting disoriented/nauseous enough that this becomes a pretty tough obstacle.

To say the truth, I'm getting used to change key/mouse configuration to fit difficult situations. Would you call this cheating? :o

(As a footnote, I'm mostly playing on laptops - not always the same one - which implies not always the same keyboard...)

No information overload, that's the information I was curious about! (Too bad we're no longer in my thread -- sorry) :p
