Strange Protagonist Movement Comments Pls

Post by FireStormNZ »

Hello all,

I have just made it into the drow city of Ust Natha (sp?) and I have noticed something very odd about my main character. It seems that he likes to chill out and rest as he is walking for some odd reason. I have only noticed this since they were disguised as ... (don't want to insert spoiler).

Basically I give a move command to the party and everyone gets there well before him - he is not encumbered in any way as you would expect with a strength of 19. He walks approx 3-5 cm, its different every time and then pauses. When just moving through the caverns its annoying but in big fights it becomes crucial as he seems to stop moving for a quick breath before he assaults a key enemy.

I thought it may be a scripting problem and set him to the basic attack/defend option and nothing changed. Similarly he is even now stopping for breaks when he is hasted!!!

Please if you have any thoughts on this I would appreciate hearing them because its mighty frustrating.

All characters tend to stop once in a while when given a direction to work. Basically it's the pathfinding and the character is calculating the most efficient root to get there. You can increase it in the configuration menu, which will make everyone pause less.

bug

Believe this is a known bug, and agreeable very annoying one.

If memory serves, it happens because you are transformed which apparently confuses the system. It will wear off when the 'transformation spell' is dispelled.

You can download a fix which solves the problem by not transforming your characters (but otherwise leaving everything else unchanged). Check out one of the fix sites. Links are numerous on this forum.

Alternatively, if you don't want to use the fix, I suggest you complete as many quests in the Underdark (all the caves) before getting transformed. That way you lessen the time where the game play is affected by this.

The newest patch should take care of this, if you don't have one.

Not necessarily, I've encountered the same problem and I always play with the latest patch. Awfully annoying. Just kill Adalon and get out of there. :P

It's apparently a bug to do with being transformed and having items that regnerate health, I don't believe there is a fix for it.
