The Arrow of Extrication (again)

Post by oozae »

Now, I know this has been done already, but I've already checked all threads that came up in the search, and none have been useful. I've been doing this part of the quest for roughly an hour and it is extremely frustrating. I killed the fish, looted him, made my way out (not to the deep blue sea, which I did originally) to the room branching off, pickpocketed the conjurer, even killed him, killed all the monsters, checked every conceivable place for a key for this damn door that won't open and looked at all the info I could get my paws on. Nothing. So, all I want to know is: where is this damn key?

Which quest are you talking about excatly? Is it the one where you use the Arrow or the one where you have to obtain it from the mage?

My mistake. Perhaps I wrote that too quickly, heh. Anyway, this is the part where you get the arrow (I don't know what happens afterwards, so please don't spoil it too much for me :) ). At the moment, I am in the secret passage leading from the mage's room and I can't get past the door that requires a key.

Thanks for the help that I anticipate, Loki.

I know what you mean. Got stuck at that door for ages too. Well, here is what you have to do. The door can't be opened. Instead, look for the tunnels that are partially submerged in water. At one end of the tunnel, the floor suddenly drops out and it becomes something of a bottomless pool. Swim down that pool until you see a opening in the wall. That opening will lead you around the door and you can continue your mission. Helpful spells would be nightvision and one that allows you to breathe in water. Took me a few tries at first which I nearly drowned. Still, try and try again until you spot that crack in the pool wall. Should be pretty simple from then on.

Ah, so there's another opening in that pool besides the one that leads you to the sea? Thanks immensely for the help, champ :)

Heh, you're right about it taking a few turns to find the hole in the wall, but I found it and made it through =D That was pretty hard getting through there, but killing Jakben + cronies was really easy (don't chain quests get harder as they go along?), and I got lots of cool weapons and moolah, and now I'm up to the Ultimate Heist. Good fun.

Since your opposition levels with you, most battles would be almost the same. It only gets harder when the enemy outnumber you vastly.

Yeah, it sure is wierd doing the noobie Mage quests and finding that all the enemy have glass and dwarven weapons lol. However, I did find out that all the Mage apprentices had these slick enchanted dwarven and glass daggers, so I was able to steal them from them when they went to sleep =D

When I played, the mage you are supposed to steal the Arrow from was clad in Daedric armor. Lol
