hey I just started playing again and I want coran to join my party but i can't figure out how to get to cloakwood

IIRC, try going to where the bandit camp is then going west from there :)

SPOILERS

Cloakwood doesn't become available untill the Nashkell mines and bandit camp quests are finished. I assume that's the problem here. You'll have to make due with Coran for some time.
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion
