Loose ends(Spoilers)

I've just started a new game to see if i've missed anything in previous game and i have a couple of questions straight away. Feel free to post you own question here but please avoid asking about obvious quests.

1. What is Odo's dog guarding?... anyone manage to get anywhere from that or you think its just a cut added for refference to either plants(murdered brother) or beast

2. Zoltan's friend Hoog. I've asked Brogg about him and he promised he'll ask around but i can't get any anwers from him later on. Any ideas?

I think the dog was supposed to be an indicator/part of finding proof of Odo killing his brother.
There are a number of hints, but little actual evidence, such as the plants only growing on places of crime and all that.

I have no idea myself. After asking him, that conversation option never appeared, even though I was nearing the end of Chapter 1. It could probably arise at some point in the game.

Who isthe Ninja guy at the end? I didn't recognize the face.

not sure either but IIRC he has witchers eyes
