WTH, my Bruma house... (Possible spoilers)

Post by BluePaintCult »

So. I just bought this 10,000 dollar home in Bruma and then the Countess tells me I should go to Novaroma to get the furnishings I'll be needing for it...

But when I go to Novaroma I realize that even though it's almost noon, the door is still locked..

And then I remember that not too long ago, I visited the Tap And Tac where Gromm was moping over the old Elf who I had been sent to kill...

Well, Gromm didn't attack me... but later on I witnessed Gromm straight up G-style murdering BOTH the people who work in Novaroma, right there in front of Tap And Tac before two guards were finally able to take Gromm down. But not before he almost killed one of the guards, too.. And to think I just sat back and watched this all happen without getting involved, so ignorant as to what it would lead to just days later... I should have just whooped Gromm's barbaric ass before he had a chance to kill both my furnishers.

The point is, I'm screwed. I'm out 10 G's and I've got an empty house with nothing but a bed in it..

Any one with stories to relate?

Do you remember what quest you did that actually led up to this, possibly even the reason why Gromm killed 'em?

I don't have any similar situations, its just I don't remember someone going psychopath & just killing shop keepers. I've only had that mages guild in Bruma vacant due to the MG line quests.

Im curious tho if this is one of the 2 hundred some other side quests. If so, if you have an earlier save you maybe able to avoid it till you get the furnishings. Myself, im remaking a character & i have 5 or more places i still needa get furnishes for but only 21k saved :(

It was the Dark Brotherhood quest that caused all this to happen, I was sent to kill Baelin by staging an accident where a stuffed head fell off of the wall and on top of Baelin's head, killing him.

Gromm (Baelin's bodyguard) got upset that he couldn't protect Baelin and was moping about at the Tavern...

now, I've played other characters and when this happens Gromm usually goes ape-**** and tries to kill me, usually.

This time, however, was different because I was just walking through town and all the sudden Gromm was there in front of the tavern fighting two civilians who just happened to be the Novaroma store owners on the way to the Tavern for a drink or something...

It was a Dark Brotherhood assassination quest Mz_Trixter. Something similar happened to me after completing that quest. He went crazy in the bar and started attacking everyone in it, killing a couple of them before he got takenm down. I never bothered with the house in Bruma on that run through, so the only problem I had was that one of his victims was my thieves guild fence. Being on a PC I was able to resurrect him.

I can't see a way out for BluePaintCult though, unless he/she has a save prior to the conflict which I gather she/he hasn't.

I'm not so sure, but I thought there were codes to resurrect dead people, no?
