High morale, succesive victories 150+ effectives and another much volunteers and suddenly when my greycloak count tarts dropping... Obviously then the security drops and villagers leave and the rest of the normal things...

Any thoughts on this? Anyone?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums Frasc0. Nice spoiler warning you have there. :D

I don't recall my Greycloak count ever dropping whilst playing NWN2. If it is constantly dropping everytime you speak to Kana (i.e. keep time progresses), then the most probable answer is a bug. This is fixable, I can provide a solution if you wish. But it might sound like cheating. :p

Here's the solution, I wrapped in it spoiler tags, so highlight to read.
Spoiler
Go to your golbals.xml document in your current save game file. I recommend backing it up before modifying anything. It is quite long, but scroll down until you see the code 21_Num_Recruited. It has a value behind it. Changing that would effectively change the number of Greycloak recruits you have.

Thanks... It's weird because I've seen no one else in any forum with the same problem so wouldn't expect a bug there (or should I). And it's the second time around...

The game is notorious for its erratic bugs, but that doesn't make it any less brilliant. By the way, did the Greycloak number drop occur the first time around?

Yes... playing a play. Somehow didn't manage to get enough ore deposits to make even decent armor. Victories at special encounters for the cloaks were not that good, but even then morale was high enough. Wasn't much to do at the keep then before Jerro's Haven. Then after Jerro's Haven (and the inconvenient crash because of the Keep's file corruption) when I get back to the Keep the Greycloaks start dropping very fast. Not even recruiting managed to get them back.

Second time around playing a rogue (but having allied with the watch) all upgrades to the keep, armor and weapons made; and then two things happened. First, cloak count dropping again. Second, Kana offers special missions before having finished the previous thus never having the cloaks free to patrol. This happening after the rites and before Jerro's Haven.

One the other topic... bugs are our day's curse. When the web wasn't this popular programs had very few bugs and everything worked well from the beginning. Today every program has uncorrected bugs and one, as a user has to spend countless hours downloading updates for most about every program. Irresponsible programmers? ... or maybe just the way things are...?

This happens and isn't a bug. There is a bugbear mission that takes time to finish if I recall correctly, and in that time you could complete one or two more special missions.

Back on topic, did the solution I provided work out?

Well didn't really try it... just reloaded to a save before the count drop, played Jerro's Haven and came back. Then played Castle Never and when returning to the Keep electric supply went out. Seeing that I hadn't saved since returning from Jerro's Haven... I dropped out the game.

Will possibly start again from the beginning one of these days...
