What Game Are You Playing?
Everything seems to be 360 for me at the moment which is surprising as I tend to play the PC more generally. I just got Kane and Lynch along with Call of Duty 4, was still playing Mass Effect and Assassing Creed and MAss Effect prompted me to start playing KOTOR again which is 360 friendly. Playing KOTOR also prompted me to watch my Star Wars collection from Episode I - VI.
On the PC I'm still on LOTRO as well as MTW2, HOI2 (was back into SWG for a little bit but it keeps crashing on me) and I just started the beta of a new strategy game so that is taking my time up now.

I have tried Call of Duty 4.
And it turned out to be total **** unfortunately. Never have played such a stupid, scripted game.
One step awy from the sripted way and you get mysteriously shot by an enemy (who was not/could not be there), grenade-killed (frequency and accuracy of grenade throwing is really ridiculous). You empty half a clip into an enemy who then as soon as you turn away shoots you in the back with his pistol:laugh:
I know its a mainstream game mostly for children but...
I do not understand how this could be such a popular title. Its not neither challenging nor whatever else. No choice left for a player. Superenemies with superaim coming your direction in endless waves no matter what.
Ohhhmmm...I shall install Neverwinter nights

I dont upgrade my pc anymore, I play old games for old people
At least that is a lot better than cheap tricks such as giving a certain enemy invulnerability just because it is part of the story for you to end up incapacitated by him and the fact that no matter how careful you are in shooting every dead person, that body you shot before suddenly rises up and blows himself up with a grenade, injuring you as a result.BRKO wrote:You empty half a clip into an enemy who then as soon as you turn away shoots you in the back with his pistol:laugh:
Not to mention that if you shoot an enemy, he goes down but is still moving, just shoot it again. The one good thing I've learned from Call of Duty 1 & 2 is to shoot them, even though they're down, to ensure that they're really dead.
I like the Call of Duty series, with the exception of 3, but I don't think it plays like a kids game. I'm 22 years old but I still find them fun. In fact, I prefer them to other shooters where certain weapons are purposefully underpowered to force you to use several other weapons. Not to mention that there is a sense of realism where you can only carry 2 weapons instead of 8.BRKO wrote: I know its a mainstream game mostly for children but...

Anyway, I'm re-playing Half Life 2 and currently playing Call of Duty 4.

Hmm don't know about that. The tutorial mission is a training mission to gauge what level you should play on. I always play my games on normal level and it took me about ten attempts at beating the clock to get the option to play on normal :laugh:Not everyone has lightning quick reactions! I couldn't accept having to play the game on easy so kept retaking the mission until i got a good enough time to play on normal.BRKO wrote:

I enjoyed Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 (not so much with call of duty 3) nd they are the best WWII shooters I've played. I'm 37 but don't really consider myself a child Not all the time at least....

Agreed. Not to mention that it came from the same guy who created the Monkey Island series, Tim Schafer. Gosh, I miss those old Lucasarts adventure games. Why did Lucasarts abandoned adventure games for Star Wars games?Loki[D.d.G] wrote:Psychonauts is a brilliant game. Good choice.
Not that I know of. Sorry. That game is almost non-existent in physical stores.Loki[D.d.G] wrote: Still hunting around for PlanetScape: Torment. Any idea where I can get it Des? (I don't mean online options)

It wasn't all bad at least. BioWare did all the hard work and Lucasarts enjoyed all the money...DesR85 wrote:Agreed. *Sigh* Go figure.

True, but Lucasarts can still focus on Star Wars games and adventure titles at the same time, right? Their adventure line was doing decently until for some reason, management decided to focus on Star Wars titles instead and ditched developing adventure games. Maybe because of the large Star Wars fan base, I don't know but ditching a line which isn't loosing money does raise some eyebrows.Loki[D.d.G] wrote:It wasn't all bad at least. The way I heard it Adventure games had been on decline for some time. Grim Fandango was the the death blow. Basically they created a great game that got great reviews, but still didn't sell. What else were they supposed to do? SW seems like a solid choice.DesR85 wrote:True, but Lucasarts can still focus on Star Wars games and adventure titles at the same time, right? Sadly, that does seem to be the case. However, one of the latest titles did well in my book, and that is Psychonauts.AvatarOfLight wrote:The way I heard it Adventure games had been on decline for some time.

Good game, though it's more like half platformer and half adventure if you ask me. Still, not bad for Tim Schafer, though.Loki[D.d.G] wrote:Sadly, that does seem to be the case. However, one of the latest titles did well in my book, and that is Psychonauts.

If I may poke my head in here for a game nod, Assassin's Creed has really held my interest. I'm far more into it than I was TES: Oblivion. It's tactical, beautiful, and even though I'm only half way through, the fact that not everything is as it seems is keeping me hooked.
Only thing that irks me about this game is the repetitive scouting in cities and the guard AI in some areas, but if anyone was on the edge of buying this game like I was, I'd say go for it.

Lately i've been redoing my Oblivion char on 360, since my first 1 didn't really end up as I liked. But Im just about done with the game...again & I'll be thinkin about going back to some of our past pc games.
Games been playing for (XB 360):
Oblivion - Assassin's Creed - Call of Duty 4
Games maybe playing (for Pc):
Heroes Might & Magic II, III, Heroes Chronicles Master of the Elements (still a great game), BG2 (if we even have it), Icewind Dale 1, HoW ...or I may go out n' buy HoMM V or The Witcher.
Also wishing I had the 3 other sequels to that Heroes Chronicles
Clash of the Dragons - Wastelands - Underworld

''White light beams through darkness, beset by immense haze over a few seconds followed by a loud cacophony. Motionless, the repercussion of your action strikes your feebled mind and senses. Still dazed, the intensity lingers that follows after tripping over your own sonic blind trap.''
Actually, I don't recommend. What I've gathered from personal experience and from discussions from different forums, there has some bad coding been made in HoMM V, and thus the game is very, very laggy even if your computer is better than recommended requirements. It seems that one should have top of line computer to actually be able to play it without lag. And the lag is so bad, that it's almost unplayable.Mz_Trixter wrote: out n' buy HoMM V
Just a warning before you run to shop to buy it, you probably will get dissapointed.
