Marrying/Investigating Lady Grey??

Post by mikegene »

Does anyone know how to marry Lady Grey & still investigate her? The guy in the jail cell and the one in Barrow Fields will not help me now. I've tried divorcing her but that didn't change anyone's attitude towards me. Thanks.

You can not investigate Lady Grey when you have married her. If you start over again, you can both investigate and persue the marriage untill you know the truth about her sisters death. Then you get the choise to marry or not. I did not marry her, so I became the major of Bowerstone myself. It seems more profitabel to merry her though. ;)

Like Sunniva said, you can't investigate her if you're married to her.

If you restart, I have some advice.
Do her quests. The reason for this is that one of the silver keys and silver key chests are in the area where you fight thunder, and you cant go there unless you are fighting thunder. SPOILERSThen you go and talk to the crazy locked up guy. he tells you to go see Amandas ex-boyfriend(Amanda was Lady Grey's sister). He tells you to go out to the Grey House stables and flash your lamp 3 times. After that, you see a cutscene where Amanda walks into the cellar. Thats your cue to go into the cellar. Amanda tells you to show the world the letter she wrote. Once you pick it up, Lady Grey walks into the cellar(how did she get past all the undead???). She demands you give her the letter. If you do, you can marry her. If you dont, she leaves Bowerstone, and all that you have to do is talk to the sherrif and become mayor of Bwerstone. You now have access to her bedroom and all of its contents, the only downside is, you cant open the Grey House demon door. END SPOILERS

There you have it.
Boo will have clean wood shavings you evil bastards! -Minsc

Possible

You can marry her and investigate her, because I just did it. You just have talk to the guy in the cage to get the investigate quest before you go talk to lady grey. Then you can do the marry quest, marry her then go and talk to the guy in barrow fields and do the lamp flashy deal. You'll notice after you get married the investigate quest in still in your current quests list.

(((this is what happens if you don't wanna know)))
After you get the letter grey comes in and says how your a bad husband for sneaking behind her back and takes the letter from you and says the guy in the cage is gonna die. Your not given any options, to my disappointment because I wanted to get rid of her because shes a total ****.
Further, when you talk to the sheriff he says the mayors been acting funny and asks what you said to her. talking to grey promtly issues a divorce. I started beating her but the guards didn't intervene untill she was unconcious and i kept kicking her. They have lax domestic abuse laws i suppose =P

I take it there's no way to kill her?

You can marry the girl by the jail, shes the best wife in the game, unlike miss don't sleep with me and complain all the time, She gives YOU presents when you come and visit her.

Might be worth testing, but i think shes invulnerable like the fist fighter gang leaders. Hitting her with your fists still does 10 damage per hit and you can knock her unconcious over and over again but shes a stubborn broad.

If all else fails, try a trainer, I've heard that you can even kill a Demon Door with one

Yes, you can get the guards to kill lady grey by getting them to try and kill you. I don't think you can kill a regular villager with just your fists. I remember pummeling the beardy-baldy quest guy in the Bowerstone slums for quite a while when I first got the game...

The Girl, the Ghost, The Lady

I know this topic has been covered, but I have not seen on any of the posts or threads a conclusive ending to what you can do, so here is what I have found.
  1. Get the Investigate Quest before talking with LG.
  2. Go through most of that quest, do not pick up the Letter from Amanda ( LG's dead sister).
  3. Go through Mayor's Invitation quest till you have beaten Thunder.
Now it gets interesting, there are different paths to take here. I've explored what you can do in each instance, just to see how things relate to each other.

If you talk to the Girl by the Prisoner in Bowerstone North and choose to Marry her, you cannot marry LG, you cannot finish the investigation, you cannot enter the Mayor's Manor ( Basically you lose the Katana and the Axe totally). And the Girl gives you no Dowery, but probably the best Black screen Bed Noises lol.

If you do the investigation, you can become Mayor, LG is gone, you have Access to the Manor, but the Girl in Bowerstone North won't talk to you and just shrug her shoulders when you try to talk to her, and giving Gifts won't help. You'll have the Katana, but not the Axe and no Wife ( big deal! lol).

If you Talk with LG and Marry her you have both Weapons, her 15k Dowery, access to the Manor. She'll give you gifts once in a while ( IE the Solus Greatsword). the Girl won't talk with you, the Prisoner will be dead. If you then try to finish the Investigate the Mayor quest LG will take the letter from her Sister from you, and you'll end up divorcing her ( why would you do that? now you can't sleep with her! lol). And yes you can sleep with her, you need to be in her Bedroom in the Manor at night time, she'll come in, it takes a lot of flirting and other expressions, maybe some gifts and talking with her, but you can do it.

And yes, the other Option, do the Investigation and Marry LG. If you have Killed Thunder already ( as I said earlier to do for most of these scenarios) then She'll meet you in Bowerstone North in the Gardens of her house... the Problem is you'll have to run there, cause yes, as described in other threads, Your guild seal will not work from your inventory, your Hotkey, the Cullis Gates will all be dead, effectively ruining half the game and making what you can do from there on out a pain in the butt.

I am not sure what would happen if you got to that point without killing thunder first, the gates might work, might not, could use some help determining that. I am also not sure if the Gates being Down is a permanent thing or if there may be a way to reactivate them.

As I tend to play a Good aligned character ( though I have killed over one thousand guards and 500 villagers... I like to max all my spells and lets face it! its fun letting off some steam once in a while) I am usually tempted to Expose her, but I collect the Legendary weapons and Master Weapons and all Armor in the game, so I kind of need her for at least a bit. Plus I'll get her to Put out all the time and buy me stuff, so theres that. Punishing her so she leaves and doesn't come back, not too bad except she can start anew somewhere else, might as well as make her my slave hehe, long term suffering of getting hit, drunk and making her buy me stuff LOL!!!

Ok, so I married her, then slept with her 10 times, flirted a bunch, 2 gifts of jet, then I went and got her sister's note, came back, slept another 10 times, flirted a little and just received will user's bright upper robes from her. So it all depends on how nice and all you are with her lol.

Lady Grey's House OPEN? (TLC/PC)

So, another weirdness. On the second run i came to the LG house (imagined it good place to get XP). First time (in terms of games) i was here the house door was promptly blocked, and the cellar the same. Now all was open as it should be, i guess, if i were on one of LG quests (Demon Door didn't open, however, so i wasn't meant to be married on LG). I got both the diary and the letter...
The only real difference that this time i was finished traders escort (well, several times ;) ) and had seeress search told but not taken.
Has anybody experienced such and what are the consequences? (This seems not to be game where it's safe to have quest items on hands before the quest it started) I saved the game to try on leisure, altogether i'd do it normal way and am afraid that that might spoil the game farther at some distant point.
