Bonus merchants

Post by Celacena »

I bought the combined set of disks to replace my old ones (a bit scratched) and having installed them and the official patches, I can't find the 'bonus' merchants. I think that I also installed a fixpak that was meant to do it.
it's not bothered me much, but if somebody could set out the idiot's guide to adding the merchants to the patched vanilla install, I would be a happy bear.

cheers

afaik the bonus merchants are already added with the patched

BioWare: BG II: Throne of Bhaal Patches
Adds to the Adventure Mart in Shadows of Amn the merchant Deidre and the special items from the Collector's Edition of SoA.
but if your patched bugged somehow, or you want the bonus merchant in the copper cornet too

their files are also located here on this side
http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgateii/downloads.php

or direct link
http://www.gamebanshee.com/downloads/baldursgateii/bonusmerchants.zip

just open the zip file and extract the files into your overwrite folder, usually you should already have one file if you patched the game.

Im not sure if the plugins work if you in an already startet game, or if you already visited the two locations, but it should work with any new game

i hope this helped you

thank you

Dierdre appeared and had a full stock, so I blew my stash with her and am down to 1,000 gp. It is good to have Vecna for the first time in ages, as the PC is a wild mage.

I don't know if it is a bug, but the PC has been scripted to use magic to attack and she has MMM memorised. each time the party is attacked, out come those golden balls and fry the attackers YET I have not yet popped over to the ministry for magical licenses and don't have a permit. the PC has used MMM probably 3 or more times and we have not been pulled up by the Cowled Wizards for Unsanctioned Use of Magical Energy.

Anybody care to explain?

The cowled wizards only come out if you cast magic in the streets of Athkatla. So not in houses, in dungeons or in areas outside of Athkatla. I'm not sure if the "you got ambushed" areas count as well since they're mage starts to cast spells if her life depends on it (and it ussually does :D ).

It WAS in the streets - the priest of cyric in the docks near the Guild and the two unlucky muggers in the slums outside the Coronet - there may have been others - each time my PC fired up MMM and roasted them.

Did you actually cast the spell on the street or just had MMM equiped that had been cast elsewhere outside the jurisdiction of the cowled mages ??
Try casting other spells to see if it's a bug.

@Grombag: The ambush areas between districts are 100% safe to cast magic
