Where can I farm skill xp?

Post by jacktheripper »

Hi, I made an archer and I need a lot of experience for him. What is the best place to farm skill exp? And please do not say cliffside path, first of all I do not have access to it yet and second, the undead come at you too fast to get much skill experience. So what are your best places?

No other way. You won't have a troll at the beginning, however; the opponents more or less match your approximate level (age IMHO). While you are young they are wasps, bugs, ordinary bandits; a nymph on occasion as an ultimate test.
You can go through bandits area (Greatwood Gorge), you're going to pay 400 gold - or fight, and after that you could go through Darkwood to Barrow Fields and Oakvale, but there would be even harder fighting (save in the last two places what are friendly). In fact it's the track you are going to have take soon anyway - in course of early gold quest.

I train al my chars in the beginning by walking from the guild to Greatwood, and afther Greatwood lake, enter greatwood gore (or whatever that place is called where the bandit camp is) and than walk back to the exit of greatwood.
That is, until I get a troll somewhere I can spam on.

Thanks for your response, but I have one more question. When you told be to kill the rock troll, can I charge up the bow of skorm for 3 mins in the origional fable and will it still one hit him?

I dont really get you.
A bow needs a few seconds to be fully loaded. afther you fully pull the string, it doest matter how long you keep it pulled.
Wachting till the string is fully pulled back, it does maximum damage. If you want to fire more arrows, you need to use the skill Multi Arrow.

In other words: Afther about 5 seconds a bow has his maximum damage, wachting another 2 minutes and 55 seconds wont help you do more damage. You will always fire 1 arrow, unless you use magic and use Multi Arrow.

During the last part of the training in the heroes guild when you have to "fight"' maze, when he tells you to attack him with your sword just get far away and shoot him with your bow over and over. youll get 6 exp every time you should him(i think) and after like 10 or 15 you can probably get like 10,000 exp.

Sorry to contradict you, but those 5 seconds it takes are not it's maximum power. In fact, Skorms bow can one hit a rock troll, I've done it before. Just hold the charged bow for about 3 mins (gets a little boring) then walk up to the troll and fire when he is ready to be attacked. BAM! 5,000 damage. Try it, see that I'm not a liar.

It doesn't only work with Skorm's Bow. In fact, I think any ranged weapon can be charged up to deal a huge amount of damage, but I'm not sure. The only ones I've tried was Skorm's Bow, Master Bow and that legendary crossbow, forgot the name... Was it Arken's Corssbow?

You can also obtain skill xp by trading with merchants. Use the buy and sell in bulk trick with a high combat multiplier to gain both money and lots of skill xp.

I just wasted 5 minutes of my life to test it :p
It indeed works.
Though it is a useless option XD the time it taes to charge is longer than the time it takes to hack a troll down with a sword.

That didn't work for me (TLC/PC). No XP gain at all, at least on experience screen. I'll give another try, though, mayhap i wasn't far enough

Trade for skill, thats true. Just put the first exp into guile (straight after Wasp Queen) and you'll be master archer or rogue in no time.

Right, i seems not to be far enough first time.

BTW, do you want to be perfect archer? Just trade, it gives you quite enough Skill points. I do not use a bow any more save but by special purpose on special occasions

Skrom's Bow is perfect for decapitations. That is why it is also my fav weapon.
