Drow

Post by Druidmaster »

Hi all travellers of dark path! :D
I have two problems.
1. How I can make a drow-character, who have that natural magic-resistance level that Viccy have also? I remember that i read somewhere that drows have natural magic-resistance in game?
2. Is there ANY possibilityes that drow-weapons or armours doesn't disintigrate when hit by sunlight?

hi Druidmaster

1. afaik there is no way to create a "legal" drow in bgII, the way you fake one is to create an usual elven char and give him black skin and white hair, so he looks like an usual drow.
the magic resistance is not that big deal either, you could edit them with sk, although the MR is a bit wrong implimentet in BG cuz usually the MR of a drow will increase with their level, but it would be possible to just give your PC an "natural" MR of 60%
the part which you will not be able to edit is the reaction/racism of others,
for example it is not very likely that arie, keldorn or anomen would join your group if your PC was a drow, i heard vicci would not romance an elven char either and for gaming purposes you are an elve so that would be off to, and the last chapter of the game would run completly different i think

2. yes there is a mod where you could turn this off, but there are reasons why the items desintegreat, this is completly PnP conform ;)

There's a mod available which enables you to take an approximation to a 3rd edition Drow and apply it to your BG2 Elf character. Do a search for BG2 Subrace Mod on google and you should find it.

That gives you the scaleable SR, note it also gives you a 20% xp penalty IIRC

hope that helps

You can create a familiar with pickpocket who can pick up your items and then carry them to safety. They only disintegrate in the area you arrive to when you exit underdark, iirc. However, these armors are the best in the whole game, so using them later on is heavy cheese. :P

The other mod which includes Drow and many more races/classes is the Darkest Day mod - a highly bugged one btw. Use it on your own risk.

A pickpocketing familiar cannot steal armor. Maybe some weapons, but except the Drow Crossbow of Speed and some stunning bolts, there aren't other valuable weapons to steal from Underdark.

There is a way of sneaking past the underdark check-points, mainly by using the Import-Export in a multiplayer game. Anyway, in ToB pocket plane, there is automatic trigger of adamantine disintegration, so I don't really see the reason why you need the drow armor&weapons. There are far more valuable ones in the game.

I believe that armour cannot be pickpocketted if it is being worn, but surely it can be if it is just in the backpack. Please correct me if i am wrong.

They can, if it's in your own inventory to begin with.

And the drow chain mail gives you 5% MR and -1 cast time which I daresay makes it one of the best armors in the game. :]

Well hi everybody, good to be back on this game after coupple of years of break an see that still there are many new fans.

Easiest way to keep Drow items is to have Imoen (did you save her didn't you?) and before exit the underdark give her the drow stuff, drop her from the group and tell her to wait for you at the Inn. You'll get her in Athkalia with all your Drow stuff and she'll be happy to rejoin you. I know that is possible to do the trick with other NPC, but I don't remember if all remember the way to Athkalia and/or they will rejoin the party.

BTW: whatch not go back to the areas mentioned before, take into consideration that in Tob they will dust anyway and that is very cheesy.
