whats your favourite weapon proficiency?
i think long swords are the best - daystar, blackrazor, equalizer, etc being very powerful indeed, and with not too high speed factors.
many weapons are underated like halberds and short swords. anyone like these less popular ones?

While I do like Long swords and katanas, I like Flail of the ages of all the weapons best. Pair that with Celestial fury or Crom Faer and you have a great combo. Black Razor would be good if you got it a little earlier in the game.

Staff...
You have to get the staff of the magi if you're a mage or sorcerer.
That weapon is the most powerful in the game. Better than Carsomyr and Crom Faer.
But if not for that, I would take two-handed sword. You can found the Sword of Chaos +2 in the 1st level of Irenicus dungeon.
Then Lilacor +3 is free in the sewers of the Copper Coronet.
Then there is Carsomyr +5, Warblade +4, Silver Sword +4 (vorpal sword), and many others +3.
Combined with 2 slots in 2hander style, you can do a lot of criticals at an awesome speed.

I still like FoA and Celestial Fury, FoA can slow each hit and Celestial Fury can stun giving you ample time to lay a butt-kicking on opponents.Originally posted by Pat Bou:

long swords are the best by far - loads of really cool +3/4 weapons for any alignment (blackrazor-evil, daystar-good, equalizer-neutral ). they are also quite fast, and dont take up both hands, meaning you can have a shield or dual wield.
2 hnd swords are also very good - carsomyr +5, soul reaver +4, lilarcor +3, etc
but surely, you cant knock long swords - they are one of if not the best weapons

My favorite Combo for my Kensai/Mage is 2h swords 4 slots, staff 3 slots, and 2h style 2 slots.
there's a cheap way of using the staff of magi in melee. right after scoring a hit or miss with the staff, use the F key to equip it. If you do this fast enough, you will become invisied before the monsters could react. So you can keep repeating until they are dead. Great for those adamintium golems since the staff is considered a +5 weapon. of course this doesn' work on something that see invis. I also do this with spells, right after the spell(fireballs for example) leaves my fingers, I equip the staff and become invisied. It works wonders with the Robe of Vecna, since any spells below 6th lvl casts as fast as magic missle. I usually run around going visible and invisible to draw all the monsters together to maximize the AE spell effects.
For those solo tough monsters, I hit em with greater malise then uses the vorpal sword on them.

I prefer Blackrazor for the hp drain ability. Daystar is good, but Blackrazor is really cool.Originally posted by Weasel:
@Shadowstrider: I agree Flail of Ages and Celestial Fury.....with Daystar in one of the other slots. I have used this with a Cavalier, Undead Hunter and a Inquistor.

I agree with Zimith, Flails and Two weapon style are a total of two proficiencies, and Flail O the Ages, can be really good, slow, good damage and to hit. while The Defender of EastHaven gives you 2 Ac bonus and REsistance to Crushing, Slashing, and Piercing.(Note: you don't have to have the collector's or the Bonus Cd to get Diedre and Joluv's items) so getting a proficiencie at two weapons could combine the powers of those two weapons.
the black razor, or daystar, with the equalizer would be a great combo too
I agree with Rapier. I'm going through as a Fighter/Mage. 2 slots in long swords, 2 in katana, 3 in two-weapon style. The two in long swords are wasted at the moment. I am currently wielding Celestial Fury and the Dak'kon Zerth blade (both katanas). It hits every so often, but I like the extra spells. And C.F. cannot be beat. I argue it is one of the top three swords in the game, along with Carsomyr and Blackrazor.
Once you start down the Halberd path, forever will it dominate your proficiencies!
I've got an elven berserker with +++++ in Halberds and ++ in Two-Handed weapon style.
SWEEEET ACTION!
Undoubtedly though, whenever I dual weild weapons, Celestial Fury seems to find it's way into one hand, it's just THE greatest weapon!

Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.
