Anyone else like to play games when they are high?
This is pretty random I know, being my first new thread and all since back in december. I just was curious as to how many other people play games high, and does it make it more fun or frustrating for you. In my experiences it has made it more fun, mostly because I just don't care what happens.
Erm, no, I don't. Why would you want to do that anyway?
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

I refuse to answer on the grounds it may incriminate me, or as they say in the US of A, I take the 5th.
Someone I know very well thinks it's more fun though.

Well,
I can't say I've gamed while high (basically because I'd pretty much given up the habit by the time I started gaming), but I have watched movies while high... and it can certainly bring an entirely new twist to the experience, that's for sure! No doubt that is amplified even further if you are gaming

Not exactly high, but I was very drunk while playing NwN once.
Didn't really make any difference, because at that time playing it online was a routine, not an experience.
An hellball here, and another one there.

.....Right, am I the only one who finds it strange that someone would post this kind of thread on a semi-professional game forum, and even stranger that two moderators would post in agreement with this?
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.

Nope. The only thing that surprises me is that this site would be classified anywhere near professional; I thought we were just a collection of benevolent fanatics.Siberys wrote:.....Right, am I the only one who finds it strange that someone would post this kind of thread on a semi-professional game forum, and even stranger that two moderators would post in agreement with this?
I also was under the impression the moderators were not some kind of different species with an elevated status or something scary like that.
And there is the virtue of soft-drugs, in my experience. I am usually not very attached to my virtual dignity but when I'm high, I take myself even less serious and that does make gaming more fun. Because in essence, with a few (Asian) exceptions, playing games is supposed to be leisurable, non-professional. As is browsing a forum about games. In my opinion, anyway.
Come to think of it.. The online fanatics mentality of you-got-to-be-leet-like-me takes the fun out of fooling around with your game..
@galraen: I thought it was appropriate to make a comment about your signature in this thread. Not only criminals benefit from drug prohibition, the CIA does too and they consciously allow it to happen on their terms.

Buck brings us News from almost every game site, editors and even moderators have their own reviews here, Buck occasionally holds contests, not to mention all the walkthroughs provided for free. That alone should scream "professionalism" as in "It's pretty clear what this site is about."Nope. The only thing that surprises me is that this site would be classified anywhere near professional; I thought we were just a collection of benevolent fanatics.
Different species or anything scary, no, but we do have an elevated status for a reason. It's the difference between a cop and a citizen, you could talk to your friend about doing drugs or whatever and probably be just fine, but you would never say this to a cops face.I also was under the impression the moderators were not some kind of different species with an elevated status or something scary like that.
This is why I think it's even stranger that the "cop" would not only engage in the conversation but somewhat agree with the topic.

So is getting high bad because it is harmful or because it breaks the law? (presuming one thinks it is bad)
I find it bad in a lot of cases. But it depends on the overall picture. There are probably times when drugs are an attempt to find meaning and represent an expansion of consciousness. But also they can be an escape or a means of disconnecting.
In general I don't think it is the drug that anyone would want. Rather they want the joyful feeling. Or positive feeling however they characterize a positive feeling.

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Siberys,
it's not as though the OP is selling drugs, nor is he even advocating that people get high while gaming.
*shrugs* It's not the most standard SYM topic in the world, but then again, what is?
So like....loosen up dude, and have a Twinkie, eh...
@Claudius,
it's not always as deep as that
Sometimes people smoke up just to unwind, not unlike drinking a beer. In many cases, the only real difference is that weed doesn't cause your bladder grief.
Anyway, I know we've discussed this subject elsewhere, I'm just goofing around here, so don't take much of what I say too seriously

I asked him earlier today, and he says this discussion consitutes one of illegal activities. At least, in some societies.
