I think I broke my IWD 2.

Post by helderin »

After quick saving my game recently my computer suffered from a VPU error.

Now I have some problems with IWD2.

Quickloading from the title screen results in a freeze after about 1/10th of the file is loaded.

Attempting to load from the Load Game screen is impossible as whenever I click on load game i get the following message

"An assertion failed in InfScreenLoad.cpp at line number 1646"

Attempting to save a game after starting a new game results in a similar error message but this one at line number 1740.

Any help?

EDIT: I figure I might as well state that I run on Windows XP, have a Radeon x330/550, 3.4 ghz Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 1 Gig of Ram

Welcome to the forums helderin! :)

It seems that some files has got corrupted due the VPU error. Copy the saved games to different location, then reinstall the game. After this, try to start new game, save it and try to load it. If everything works fine, then you could try to copy those old saves back. After that, try to load the older saves. It's probable that some of those are corrupted and thus not loadable, especially the quick save. But at least you should be able to reload your old game from earlier point, thus not losing that much as when restarting the whole game.
