Problem
Problem
I have 2 questions.
1. I restarted my game and I just joined the Mages Guild and gained access to the Arcane University. I have a lot of soul gems with grand souls in them. I tried to enchant some of my own armour with fortify strength (I know you can do this because I did it on my previous game file), but the option to do so isn’t coming up. I was wondering if there is a reason why and a way I could fix the problem.
2. I’m looking for a Chameleon and Invisibility spell that I could cast (my Illusion is at level 54 journeyman).
Thanks.

Well I don’t care if it’s Gods own anti-son-of-a-bitch machine or a giant hula-hoop we’re not going to let them have it. What we will let them have is a belly full of lead and a pool of their own blood to drown in… AM I RIGHT MARINES!!??

In order to add more enchanting spells, your character must first off buy/learn the spell (also probably have the necessary skill level & enough magicka to cast the spell atleast once).
I hadda find this out myself. Doing this will or should add more options. I did it with soul trap & absorb life in order to add 'em to my swords.
For Chameleon or Invisiblity spells, try looking around Cheydinhal - they should be the ones who major in it. Or you can check here to see who sells certain spells.

Ok. I got the spells and enchanted my armour.
Thanks for your help.

I have a new question and i figured I would say it here instead of starting a new thread.
I have been training my character's major skills lately. But I have been having trouble raising one of them... Restoration. It takes me about 30min+ to raise it up 1 level. Is there any reason why that is or is it a magic skill that is hard to increase?
Thanks.

Restoration is the slowest magic school to increase. The 'Use Values', i.e. the amount of increase per use, for each school is as follows:
Conjuration 6.0
Alteration 4.0
Illusion 3.0
Mysticism 3.0
Destruction 1.2
Restoration 0.6
The numbers probably don't mean much as raw numbers, but give an indication as to why you're experiencing such slow development in comparison to other magic schools. Basically, Restoration increases ten times slower than Conjuration, five times slower than Illusion etc.. Why the difference I can't explain, but many of the decisions the developers made in creating this game are inexplicable.

I, too, find it frustrating when training Restoration. I find that I have to cast about 15 Alteration spells to level up, and 60 Restoration spells. But, my question is, if you're trying to train in, say, Destruction, you have to actually be HITTING something with the spell for it to count, right? Once I sat there and casted fireballs at the Mages' Guild ceiling for a while to level my Destruction up, and when I checked my stats page, I realized it didn't go up at all. It's the same with Illusion, right? If I was casting a Charm spell to level up my Illusion, I'd have to be actually Charming SOMEone, rather than just casting the spell on nothing? I just wanted to make sure.
I'm an xboxer.

well you 'can' do it that way, but I find it quicker to just make a custom spell (cast weakness to whatever on-self) & stand in a room by myself & cast that repeatedly rather than having to find something to fire at. it makes lvling up Destruction much easier; same with other spells, find a spell you can cast on yourself like invisibility or chameleon. But, my question is, if you're trying to train in, say, Destruction, you have to actually be HITTING something with the spell for it to count, right? I did notice that i could train Conjuration a lot quicker. I would only need to cast about 4-7 spells to level up. Looks like I'm just going to put alot of time in to raising my Restoration levels.galraen wrote:Restoration is the slowest magic school to increase. Thanks for your insight.

I only think that its worth lvling Restoration up to 50 (unless its 1 of your majors) But I think 50's sufficient bcuz thats when you can cast both cure disease & poisons. Otherwise for max healing, you can just loot major healing potions off of any necromancers. I get up to 20-30 potions per loot. :speech:

So do I. Though another point to note is that restoration also constitutes buff spells to skills and stats. So, it can be useful if you have a high level in that skill.Mz_Trixter wrote:I get up to 20-30 potions per loot.
Love is just a chemical. We give it meaning by choice ~ Eleanor Lamb, Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams
Well I'm managing to get Restoration up.... slowly.
I was wondering, with the Colossal Black Soul Gem is there any way to actually capture a soul in it or is it worthless??
