if my friend bought the game of the year edition of oblivion for 360
and i already had regular oblivion can i use the expansion disc to go to the shivering isles and knights of the nine quest??
i already loaded it in my 360 but no new quest messages or anything??
can someone help me?

I think the GOTY version already has the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions.. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure. I think they're what make it the "Game of the Year" instead of the other version..

indeed, the 'Game of the Year' version does include the Shivering Isles Expansion + the Knights of the Nine.
As for you using it to access the SI's you may still need the quest. But, If you only depend on that disc for it. & later you just use the original game disc; You may still need to download it from xb live to beable to play through it. ...if I read your question right.
