bugged npc at gem mines

Post by Cernunnas »

Hi everyone!

I'm stuck at the gem mines (act II). I know the most frecuent troubles here are finding the npcs or guiding them through, but that's not my case. I've found all of them, 5 are at the tree already, but one of them (the elven spirit in the big room close to the tree) is not doing anything. When I talk to him he only thing he says is "Is it done, then? Has the fool ended himself? Or did the ritual fail entirely?", over and over again. I've killed EVERY mob in the map, looted everything, turned the lights on again, and like I said, the rest of the ghosts are at the tree already. I've tried rebooting, zoning in and out, searched for hours around the net, and tried everything I could think of.

Any suggestion?? And thanks!

Edit----- BTW, I also tried to update my game, but I get an error I can't fix (I think dialog.tlk is corrupted)

There's a spirit you talk to at the start of the area who introduces you to the puzzle. He's not supposed to move anywhere. My guess is that you have a spirit hiding out somewhere in the mines. They can be tough to spot.

Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

He says he already has the five standing at the tree. Which would leave the sixth and final elven spirit. The problem seems like a trigger not firing, because in my experience, the elven spirit will only have the conversation with you once before turning silent and allowing you to guide him to the tree. Best option will be to reload form a save before you enter the mines.

I know, but that's a ghost called Balaur... he's not the one. The one who isn't walking is called 'Spirit', the last elven spirit. Like Loki said, I think it's just not triggering... If I don't get it working today I guess I'll have to do what he said, to load the last saved game before this one. *Cries* I'd have to start over the whole Arvahn zone, outside and the Riverguard keep. :(

****BTW Loki... I'm a she! :p

Thank you both for minding!

Alright I found out what was wrong! I loaded the last autosave and went straight to that part to check if it worked. At that point I still had Zhjaeve in my party and I didn't bother leaving her at the keep, and it seems like she was the one missing to trigger the dialogue/scene with the spirit... It's weird because I took all of the rest to the tree with no problem. Soooo I loaded my "buggy" saved game again and took her with me... and it worked! *Sigh* they shouldn't let you take her out of the party till you're done there or something. I just thought I could post this just so you know for the next time somebody has this problem. You should add it as a note to your walkthough when you have time aswell! (gamebanshee's walkthroughs are the best out there IMHO).

Thank you both once again and keep up the excellent work!

Not all people experience the same bugs. If others do, they can easily do a search which will reveal this thread or we can direct them here if needed. :)

Ooops. Sorry for the mix up. Neither your avatar or name hinted at a specific gender, so I made the safest guess. :p :D
